Dr. Steven Millard Fendley, MD

In 2015, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at flowers Hospital. I had completed my annual mammograms but the radiologist just thought that it was a cyst. I returned for another mammogram after I started hurting. I was referred to Dr Fendley who told me that I was going to have 3 or 4 cancer. (It was only after going to another hospital that I discovered that it was 2b). I went to a Flowers oncologist on which none of the nurses could get my port to which caused me to have to have a port study. (The hospital that I later transferred to did not have this problem -my port was fine. Dr Fendley did my lumpectomy. He said that everything went fine. 6 months after radiation, I learned that one of the lumps that had been cancerous had not been removed. When I called his office repeatedly to find out if his error was going to increase my risk of the cancer coming back, he would not return my calls. Thankfully, the Chemo and radiation did their jobs and the cancer did not come back. Any doctor… with an ounce of compassion would have at least taken one of my phone calls, even if it was to say that he did not know.

Dr. Fendley saw me unscheduled due to an unforeseen issue. I did not know what to expect but was so very pleasantly surprised when he entered my room. He was kind and sincere from the start. Very thorough with his explanation of my required procedure and gentle. I highly recommend him for any General Surgeon needs.

This nurse does not care about the patients, and does not return phone calls. I am very disappointed that she works with Dr. Fendley. She does not follow up or communicate with the patient.

his staff is very unprofessional, I would not recommend them. Went to Panama City to get procedure done, dr tumiel is very professional, and has the best staff ever.

Dr. Fendley and his nurse are very unprofessional and rude. He did a surgery on me and I had some complications after surgery it was on a weekend when my problems started and his office was not open so I had them looked at by someone else and when I called to make an appointment on Monday to have him looked at the problem his nurse was very rude. I arrived at my appointment and they made me wait two and a half hours and then he didn't even want to examine me until my husband made him upon check out his nurse and receptionist talked about me right in front of me. This is a very unprofessional practice and I would not recommend anyone to him.

I have never had such a terrible experience with a doctor. I found out I had a tumor in my breast. Mammogram & ultra sound showed it was small (1.7 centimeters); I was referred to Dr. Fendley; he ordered an MRI which was performed 6 days after my needle biopsy. The MRI showed tumor to be 6.1 (large) so Dr. Fendley had his nurse call to tell me I would have to have a full mastectomy. When I asked to discuss this with the doctor I was told he would not have time before the surgery. So I saw an oncologist who suggested the MRI may have picked up the blood from the needle biopsy. When I suggested to Dr. Fendley that we redo the MRI he became so angry and uncooperative. We were talking the difference here of a full mastectomy vs. a lumpectomy so it was important to me. Dr. Fendley then removed a sentinel node in order to do biopsy on that, but still would not talk to me about that and I received no information except a printed piece of paper when I was discharged. Because of his totally… uncooperative nature and lack of any concern for me, I asked for and received a referral to a doctor in Birmingham, at which time I was told I had a bacterial breast infection. How wrong could this whole experience with Dr. Fendley have gone? By the way, I did have a successful lumpectomy in Birmingham, no chemo, and will start radiation soon. Dr. Fendley caused me so much stress and sadness that I would never recommend him to anyone for anything. Same goes for his unsympathetic staff!

I have never hated a human being as much as i hate Fendley. This is the biggest jerk i have ever met. After the insurance money paperwork is filled out, its over for him as a so called doctor.

Dr. Fendley and his staff did a wonderful job from first appointment, to surgery (and hospital's surgical team), to post op follow-up calls and appointments. I'm not a fan of hospitals or any type of medical procedures. There, I felt like they cared about me. There were no long waits, processes went as briefed, and most importantly, I couldn't ask for a more positive surgery and recovery. Hopefully, I'll never have to use Dr. Fendley again... that would be my ultimate testimony.

I was pleased with my experience. My only complaint was when I had a question the night after my surgery we called into the nurse line. No one answered the phone so I left a message and no one ever called us back.

Of course no one wants to go to a doctor, but Dr. Fendley was an easy person to talk to. I felt like he took the time to listen to my concerns and asked a lot of questions and taking the time to see how I was feeling. the thing that most impressed me was that Fendley called me personally after my surgery to check on me! His staff as well, in particular his assistant Eric was super friendly and made me feel at ease. And of course they work to get to the bottom of what's wrong with you too. I would highly recommend Dr.Fendley and his staff!
