Dr. Suja John Mathai, MD

Dr Mathai truly succeeds at communicating clearly with patients and empathizing with their experiences.

Dr. Mathai is an excellent infectious disease doctor. She provides utmost care for her patients. She is friendly and supportive. She is very thorough in her diagnosis and I would recommend her to anyone who would need ID care.

Front desk staff doesn't acknowledge you when you enter the office. Staff is behind frosted glass so you can't see whether anyone is in there, or whether they know that YOU are there or not; not until they're good and ready to slide open the glass. When I was finally called in to an exam room, I could see that the doctor was on her cell phone in her office. The medical assistant took my blood pressure reading THREE times because it was so high, which is unusual for me! When the doctor came in, she didn't say anything about how high my blood pressure was; only talked to me about my blood tests, but didn't address the blood pressure issue at all. As I was leaving, I could see her in her office on her cell phone again! Not a word from her staff as I left; very unprofessional and not patient oriented at all.

I don't really know where to start. When you first walk in, the front desk staff is blocked from view with frosted glass so patients can't see them. Whether they can see you from their side, or they're just listening for voices, I'm not sure. Then, the "doctor" was just worthless. No explanation of anything and didn't even address my blood pressure being over 150/92. Completely incompetent.

Dr. Mathai is so caring and thorough. She takes time to carefully examine her patients and knows them as a person, instead of just as a patient.
