Dr. Sunjay Kaushal, MD

Dr. Kaushal came highly recommended by a top cardiologist in the DC area who felt he was among the most qualified in the entire country to perform surgery for the type of congenital heart defect our son had. The decision to undergo surgery and the months leading up to the surgery were difficult for me, but Dr. Kaushal's stellar background and calm manner were critical both to our son and to my husband and me. My son's diagnosis was totally unexpected, and was confirmed at the beginning of his first year of medical school in VA. My son scheduled the surgery for late May, almost a year later, during the break from med school. The procedure went well, and after convalescing at our home following 5 days at UMMC, our son returned to VA for his second year of med school. He is now in his 3rd year, and has not needed any additional care, nor is he expected to as this was a fully successful procedure. I thank God for this skilled and compassionate surgeon. I am forever in his debt.

My son almost died in his care. This doctor is very unhinged and would never trust him again. He was yelling at my husband for not consenting a procedure and putting my husband down, terrible surgeon and horrible person!

He is the most considerate surgeon I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. His manner was pleasant and he was always available to help no matter how large or small the problem. I can't say enough positive about him!
