Dr. Susan Meram, MD

When I tried to have Dr Meram give me some direction as of what to do with my overly heavy and painful legs and arms she immediately recommended that I start to purchase dehydrated food from a weight loss company that she represents and for which she acts as a coach: Optavia. In the exam room she went as far as to request that I give her my credit card number with expiration date and CVV number which I reluctantly and with very much confusion did. I told her that she had put me on that very diet in the past and that I had lost almost all of my hair and do not wish to repeat this painful experience but she reassured me by saying that the company has reworked their products to be more natural and that I would be very pleased with them and that she loved their oatmeal product. With her help guiding me over the phone I placed my first order. To my surprise the products did not look different from when Optavia was called Take Shape for Life and upon eating my first lunch (macaroni/cheese)… I realized how far from a natural diet that was (it tasted awful) and decided to not touch the rest of the boxes. Dr Meram would call me every Saturday to check on me and make sure that I enjoyed eating the Optavia weight loss products. She had no interest in hearing how I truly felt about them, all she was looking for was a confirmation that I was eating them. After 3 weeks I received an email from UPS informing me that they will be delivering a box of Optavia products to my door the next day. I was very surprised since I did not place an additional order. I managed to find their phone number to call them to cancel that delivery. Getting someone on the phone was a true challenge and when I finally did it was like talking to a wall. The representative could not help me or would not tell me who placed the order or why I was not informed by email that an order was being sent to me. I was truly under the impression that the company had very similar practices to those of Dr Meram which consist in force feeding you products that do not fit your lifestyle and beliefs and could be detrimental to your health like losing all of my hair 10 years before when I went to that crazy program. Besides this negative weight loss experience which I had to resolve using the fraud department of my credit card company I have to say that when I had a 7am appointment for a physical with Dr Meram, she was at least 30 minutes late! Her bedside manners are horrible! In 30 years no OBGYN has ever inflicted so much pain to me as she did when she performed a pap-smear on me: she scraped my insides as if she were gardening with a rake! When I asked her to stop and push myself away from her she kept on going! After that traumatizing event I did not let her proceed with the rest of the physical and left and at that time decided to never see that doctor again. A doctor should be someone who listens to your concerns, cares about your feelings, pain and beliefs, not someone whose interests are to market the products of a shadowy company!

I have been going to Dr. Meram for close to 20 years. She is very patient and always answers all my question

It is difficult to get an appointment because of her limited schedule. She only works part time. She is great when you see her but there is no follow up. I speak from years of experience. I am currently looking for a new doctor to transfer my primary care to.

Dr. Meram is very pleasant, with a relaxedand friendly personality. She listens attentively to your concerns and problems.Her questions seem appropriate, and generally prove correct in finding a solution to your problems. I highly recommend her. Her performance of minor inoffice surgery was excellent.

I went through many MD's trying to find what was wrong w/ me. Most were condescending, abrupt, and made me feel like it was all in my head,. I was experiencing forgetfulness, mood swings, hair loss, lack of energy and other random symptoms. Other doctors put me on the pill, not the best idea, since it made some symptoms worse! Dr Meram took the time to listen to my complaints then told me I had classic symptoms of hypothyroidism. I am not extremely happy w/ the way this condition is treated using conventional medicine, but having a name to my pain was such a relief. The staff can be preoccupied, and are not always as caring as they probably should be, but Dr. Meram takes the time you need to voice your health issues, then takes the time to consider

I have seen Dr. Meram for 6 years and I have never had a problem with her or her staff. Always friendly

I have a herniated disk which causes me chronic and severe pain. Unfortunately, I have to take pain medications to help take the edge off of my pain, but if I didn't, I would suffer more than I do. This staff has obviously judged me as a "pill junkie" and they make rude comments to me and give me a hard time about refilling my prescription. No, I don't ever run out early, and I don't abuse my medications. Susan, Dr. Meram's nurse has come right out and told me that it's too bad I'm out of my medication during Dr. Meram's absence, which was never communicated to me, and that I'd have to wait for her return. So I will suffer with no pain medication, AND go into withdrawals. This is grossly negligent, and irresponsible, and Susan, the nurse is condescending, and downright rude. Dr. Meram must not trust my integrity, or I would not be treated this way. I am finding a new Dr. ASAP. Also, Dr. Meram continually makes mistakes on my prescriptions which cause me a lot of hassle. … She'll forget the date, or the prescription details, and the pharmacy won't fill my prescription until the error is corrected, but then she's gone home for the day, so I sit at home in pain.I've had enough of this nonsense!Please, if you're smart, you'll skip past this doctor's name, save yourself a huge headache, and choose another doctor.
