Dr. Syam Prasad Babu Kunam, MD

He saved my life, literally. I was not functioning, could barely leave my house, much less, work. I know that if I had not sought help, I would not be alive today. I did a lot of research to find the most qualified, board certified, highly regarded psychiatrist, and Dr. Kunam surpassed my expectations.

I have seen Dr Kunam for almost 30 years. In patient and out patient. He has helped tremendously. I felt I needed to write a review because he is a doctor and he does his best. He has not caused my issues or anyone else’s either. He is not a counselor to poor out all your feelings to. They have therapists for that. Not all of us are in need to talk and make friends. His purpose is totally completed with his visits. I appreciate him and hope he never retires.

Dr. S. Kunam, MD is always available when I need follow appts especially how a doctor can be so busy. He schedule is always flexible and his staff makes it so easy to schedule appt times. He always make sure if to discuss the appropriate meds being used for my symptoms and he takes the time to listen and understand. I am veryu happy with the services provided.

My regular doctor was out and I would be very soon out of my med. Dr. Kunam fitted me in the same day so that he could make an evaluation and prescribe refill for me. That was very considerate.

I’ve been a patient with Dr. Kunam for more than a year or so. During our meetings — of which I am baffled as to how this is a paid service through my insurance — he would hardly look away from the computer screen, making those paid sessions seemingly impersonal. Also, he once prescribed me a medication that did not pertain to my health conditions, thus, affecting my medical history. More importantly, despite having years of history between him and I and also having a similar prescription throughout, he denied a request for my prescription refill unless seen in person — even though I live hours away for school and have no personal transportation. I hope this review can help someone make a wise decision in choosing doctors by not choosing Dr. Kunam and furthering his career as a “psychiatrist” who deals with one’s health in a matter of redundant numbers and data input.
