Dr. Seth Thomas Ferguson, DO

Wait times my last few visits were a half hour to 45 minutes. Last few encounters with visits I was very unsatisfied. I had known Dr. Ferguson over 40 years had to leave him for a few years due to a change in insurance. While in his private practice he was an excellent doctor. I came back to him approximately 5 years ago he had joined CCMC, no longer in his private practice but still in his old office awaiting a new bigger office with more staff. My experience was great with him in the beginning. I had a consultation with him for my Mother, I wanted my sister to talk to him for a few minutes about Mom's last visit with him and then just I would talk with him about my Mother's worsening Dementia. But he walked in with a chip on his shoulder practically yelling at me, wouldn't let me say what I wanted to. They were not seeing her on a regular basis. They had us believing she was dying. The last time my Mother saw him he stated she was lucid and yet my Mother and my sister who… took her to that appointment stated my Mother couldn't answer the questions about how she fell and split her ear open, so my sister answered the questions per what she was told by my Mom prior to her appointment date. If that is complete lucidity, someone needs to go out on complete retirement. My next appointment I had with him we talked about my swallowing issues from my neck surgery and after the nurse left the room he checked me and said I was dehydrated, not sure that got put in my chart since the nurse wasn't there to hear it and left the room without telling me what to do, knowing my swallowing issues and not being able to swallow more than sips of water. Two days later my niece was at my Mother's, she is a nurse in the ER unit in Big Rapids. She was told I wasn't feeling well and came and checked on me and said I needed to go to ER to get at least two liters of IV, which I did and I did receive two liters as I did almost two weeks later after seeing Lisa Ferguson for severe cramping. My last visit with Dr. Ferguson was to go over MRIs of my neck and lower back. He told me my lower back was bad with arthritis and the vertebraes were worn, but there was nothing that could be done for it. He is not a specialist and I felt a second opinion should have been ser up with a specialist. But he told me he was giving me permission to go home and be lazy, I was not to even wash a window. I am usually a pretty active person, not used to sitting around. Now since being more sedentary I am losing strength. I cannot do a weeks worth of grocery shopping alone for I cannot handle a full cart of groceries, it kills my back and hips.. My home is disgusting to me all because he has me scared I may end up in a wheel chair. I still end up cleaning, because I can only take the place looking filthy for so long. I have moved on to a different doctor as the ER doctor recommended. My husband has since left their practice also. He went to see Dr. Ferguson for, if I remember right, his left shoulder and they gave him a prednisone dose pack. A week later he was to have his yearly exam which should have been rescheduled due having prednisone which would affect an A1C testing. So he left because they couldn't do the A1C test. Decided he wasn't dealing with that office after wasting his time and I am sure they still charged Medicare and his insurance for that visit and knowing what I had been through with them, he then changed doctors also. I used to enjoy seeing Dr. Ferguson and Lisa, but there ethics have changed and they aren't as thorough as they once were. I would love to talk to both of them. I love them and miss what they once had in his own practice, when they could actually take their time and do their job appropriately. I by all means do not dislike them, but can't trust their judgment on diagnosis anymore.

Over last 15 years I have had Dr. Ferguson and Lisa as my primary care physcians and would highly recommend them to anyone. I am moving from the area and will surely miss the confidence of their medical expertise.
