Dr. Thomas Francis Gerold, MD

I had a painful hernia that Dr. Gerold fixed for me. He was professional, thorough, and had a pleasant manner. His surgery team at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital was also very professional, and made my procedure a lot more bearable.

Back in 2013 I needed to get my gall bladder out and was sent to Dr Gerold for the surgery. Everything went smoothly, from initial consultation to operating table to discharge. This Dr has excellent bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. In 2017 I was involved in a minor accident with my electric bicycle and ended up with a huge abdominal hematoma. Dr Gerold took care of me once again and successfully treated me back to health. I'm very thankful that he's affiliated with the local hospital, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.

2 hour wait... Not worth waiting

Great surgeon! After gall bladder surgery I was up and about in no time!

The man has a obvious bias against over weight patients. He also is unable to explain things in a manner the patient can easily understand, a pronounced "God" complex.

Dr. Gerold operated on my gall bladder recently. He told me what to expect and did a great job. The hospital nurses' quality of service, however, was poor to say the least. Despite the nurses at the hospital, I would highly recommend Dr. Gerold.

Dr. Gerold repaired my father's hernia.He communicated to us what he was going to do and what we could expect after the surgery. He is very compassionate, personable and intelligent. The operationwas a total success. He is a great surgeon and I would use him again. I recommend him highly to anyone.

This Doctor is a riot! A great sense of humor - don't go to him if you don't have one.Explained every thing before & after the procedure. Would highly recommend this Doctor. Makes you feel at ease.

This doctor's bedside manner is absolutely atrocious. He complained of lack of sleep before performing surgery on my mother. After this surgery my mother's PCP told her a blood clot developed. This PCP later told me in confidence this blood clot was a direct result of Gerold's incompetence. An RN at Brookhaven also told me the Brookhaven staff refers to him as Gerold the Terrible because of all the complaints they receive about him.As a result of this blood clot, my mother had to receive additional treatment in addition to her chemo. Coumadin was added to her extensive list of meds.I do understand doctors are human and prone to mistakes. But this Dr. Gerold literally said to my mother in front of me that at least the blood clot isn't cancerous. He then laughed and walked away. It is this attitude that I find to be completely appalling.
