Dr. Trent Douglas Richards, MD

Dr Trent Richards performed a delicate eye surgery (Pterygium Excision) removing and grafting a growth on my iris. He and his staff take time to answer all your questions and tell you exactly what to expect. After considering other surgeons, I now know I'm a lucky man having chosen Dr. Richards' careful hands and knowledge. He is very thorough and professional. Pterygium Excision surgery takes time to completely heal, be patient. I am very happy with the results!

Dr Richards removed cataracts from both eyes. Even though I have astigmatism, I can now see without glasses. I am so happy I had this done. He is friendly, professional and thorough. I trust him with completely my eyes, and enjoy seeing him. Great Doc!

I'm new to Utah, having moved from Hawai'i. I was used to a very good eye surgeon at home and wanted to find one doctor here. My new primary care doctor recommended Dr. Trent Richards. It was easy to get an appointment, his assistant, Brittany, was gracious and thorough as was Dr. Richards. For several years, I couldn't see well out of my right eye and after 3 tries with corrective glasses, and several checks with my Hawai'i doctor, I feared something else was wrong, so getting my eyes checked here was paramount. Turns out there's a sort of lining or membrane that can grow over the back of the eyeball which is common after cataract surgery (which I had about 3 years ago). Dr. Richards said he could do a pretty simple laser procedure right then (no other appointment needed) and correct the situation. HOLY COW! By that same evening I could see almost perfectly clearly out of the right eye and by the next day, I was able to work at my laptop and not have to switch to my "Walmart… Cheater" glasses. It just got better and better! I also have pretty bad dry eye syndrome since moving here and have had major issues which were pretty painful. Dr. Richards went over everything that I am doing and suggested a couple more things including a tear duct plug. I said, "I have one in my left eye" to which he replied "it's not there any more." Boom! Both eyes are a bit better and getting better all the time. Dr. Richards spent ample time with me, is pleasant, good sense of humor and certainly knows his profession. I've already recommended him and and kind of sad I won't be going back for another check for 6 months (unless something comes up of course)...THAT'S how much I like him!

My wife and I have both seen Dr. Richards for annual diabetes exams. I then had surgery to remove cataracts in both eyes. Now I can SEE! Dr. Richards and his assistant are friendly, knowledgeable and very competent. We highly recommend them.

I feel so blessed to have been "referred" to Dr. Richards when I went to the Tanner Clinic Emergicare with a raging eye infection. He's highly trained, extremely knowledgeable, and one of the kindest and most caring Dr's. I've had the pleasure of being seen by. I had an overseas trip planned 3 days after I first saw him. He came to the office on a Saturday afternoon to see me and he even arranged with Moran Eye Center in SLC to get me special drops that no other pharmacy could compound the night before we were to leave. He even stayed in touch with me via email and texts while we were traveling. I have referred him to several family members and will continue to recommend him to anyone that I know that needs quality eye care. Just as an aside...I've NEVER had to wait more than about 2 minutes for any appointment! Often they call me into the room before I've even had the chance to choose a magazine and sit down!

I got PRK Refractive Eye Surgery from Dr. Richards, and it completely changed my life! Dr. Richards was the perfect doctor for me, very professional and always available to answer all the many questions that I had through the entirety of the process, including recovery. And I had A LOT of questions! His staff was great, and schedule appointments was easy. We discussed my surgical options, and I decided to get the PRK eye surgery as quickly as possible. The surgery was quick and painless, and Dr. Richards made me feel very comfortable. The recovery for me was also very quick, I had my surgery on a Thursday morning, was driving on Monday, and back at work on Tuesday. I'll never forget the car ride home the Thursday that I got the surgery, because I was reading signs that I would never have been able to read before, even with my contacts in! I had to wear contacts or glasses from a very young age, and having naturally slightly dry eyes, the contacts would regularly irritate my eyes,… which wasn't only painful, but would also inevitably make my eyes red, watery, and eye makeup smear down my face! I also was spending more on Contacts than I would like, because I was prescribed a special brand for astigmatism. So the decision to get corrective eye surgery was really an easy one. I am now at 20/15 vision, loving every minute of it, and telling anyone and everyone that I know that wears glasses or contacts to get this done with Dr. Richards!

I cannot believe I waited so long to get PRK Refractive Eye Surgery, because it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Dr. Richards was so professional and made me feel so comfortable about the procedure. I had the worst vision, everything was blurry when I didn't wear glasses and contacts, now I see 20/15 in both eyes after the PRK surgery! I'm so glad that I don't have to wear glasses or poke my eye every day with contacts anymore! Dr. Richards was always available for any questions before and after the surgery. Best Dr. ever!
