Dr. Tze Yan Chan, DO

I first encountered Dr. Chan when I was in the hospital suffering from septic shock following emergency surgery to repair a tear in my colon after a routine colonoscopy. I later asked a nurse why he was called in and she replied that he was their "go-to" when someone came to ICU on a vent. He apparently made the right calls because that happened in 2004! I have since used him as my doctor and find him to be a kind, thoughtful, patient doctor. He has correctly diagnosed a couple of weird problems for me and found a solution as well as handled the routine stuff thoroughly and thoughtfully. I trust him completely.

Dr. Chan is absolutely the best Doctor in Newton Iowa. My mother had a stroke and was under the care of another doctor. She was failing and I just about lost her, so I changed her into Dr. Chan's care. It didn't take her long to improve. He tries to give medicines that work well with the individual's body. I credit Dr. Chan to saving my mothers life. Today she walking very well. Altho she uses her walker she feels she doesn't really need it and uses it just in case. Dr. Chan takes the time to listen to what you have to say, he is geniunly concerned about his patients, staff will immediately send questions or comments as needed to Dr Chan. They don't make Doctors like this anymore! He is an absolute God send us.

I really like Dr. Chan. He all always seemed attentive and truly concerned for me. I have a number of conditions and like the fact that, as an internist, he is able to address, or at the least, understand the overlapping concerns that occur in such cases.I find him engaging and helpful when I have questions. He is never condescending as some of my physicians over the years have seemed.I would recommend him especially for persons with more than one health issue, though I am sure he would be great for those in generally good health as well.
