Dr. Vinoo Thomas, MD

I went to doctor Thomas in a lot of pain in the beginning all was well I took his recommendation of getting shots to destroy my nerves in my lower back. I went two times first to see if it would work and the second time to destroy the nerve Well during the two months of healing I was still in a lot of pain When I went back to see him to say I still have a lot of pain what now?? He told me he got nothing and dismissed me. Now I’m still in pain looking for a new doctor because HE GOT NOTHING!!!

I was not able to see my regular pain management doctor so the staff scheduled me with Vinoo. In trying to explain my pain levels, history & explain medications Vinoo was too busy stroking his own ego. Vinoo would be happiest if the examine rooms were mirrored so he could adore himself. In attempting a medical examine & discussion I was berated, accused of abusing meds & told to get out. He yelled at the staff to advise my doctor, senior to this charlatan, to discontinue my meds. I have chronic pain, cannot walk 60% of the time while having to work, was left in disbelief, tears & afraid of what this lunatic was capable of doing. Vinoo was in a rage, the staff was mortified & thankfully my doctor did not take heed (obviously knowing Vinoo is inferior & a lunatic). Maybe he was irate because I didn't tell him how wonderful he was or was seeking something more? Vinoo is a pain management doctor, his job is to manage pain in patients not to berate them, not make them feel worse while… making himself feel better. Not everyone is seeking meds due to being an addict, it's very possible he/she is actually in horrible pain. Not everyone is a liar, some of us speak the truth & are in relentless pain. This guy is a raging lunatic, best suggestion is to look elsewhere (Dr Kreitzer, same group, is an excellent doctor).

I met this doctor last week. He understood my problem, and quickly made arrangements to help resolve my issue with anti inflammatory medication and some sort of shot in the neck/back within 5 days. I am nervous by nature, and, this doctor was super capable, inspired confidence, and so far so good. I am a fan. Glad to have met him.

I recently moved into Manhattan and was looking for a new pain management doctor. I had multiple surgeries over the years due to injuries received as a NYC Police Det. I came with a referral from my surgeon in Queens. Dr. Thomas refused to treat me without taking so much as a brief medical history. He started off by pointing a finger and asking if I wanted meds. Then stating that no one will give me meds. I guess he doesn't remember the point of pain management is TO NOT REQUIRE MEDS.

I had a hearty chuckle when I read a couple of comments mentioning Dr. Thomas's rudeness, abusiveness and one person who also calls him a monster. I use great caution when I comment on a doctor or anyone else for that matter. I always want to make sure that I'm thinking with my brain and not my emtions. I think calling Dr. Thomas a monster is an exaggeration. But suffice it to say that he is an absolute disgrace to his profession. I came off some heavy narcotics (Fentanyl) totally on my own and with Methadone Dr. Thomas did start to taper me off it. When I once called him to say that I am in severe pain, much more than usual he suggested that I come to the Emergency Room. He was contacted by the ER doctors and he told them not to give me any pain medication. Then he proceeded to call me and when I was crying that I am in severe pain, he said that I'm just showing drug seeking behavior and threatened to put me on the psychiatric floor. Mind you, I am someone who came off… strong narcotics on my own and believe you me the last thing I wanted was another prescription for another narcotic. I was actually hoping he would consider giving me something like Toridol or a strong anti inflammatory. But after he berated me that I'm displaying drug seeking behavior and threatened to lock me up on psychiatry I just slammed down the phone on him. A couple of days later he had his office call me to say that I have been discharged from the practice, as if I had any intention of going back to him. So again, he has zero bedside manners, and while not exactly a monster, definitely an utter disgrace to his profession.

Dr. Thomas is an exceptional Pain Management doctor. He conveys expertise and speaks plainly regarding the issues about my chronic condition, as well as available treatments to help alleviate my chronic pain. Without his treatment, i would not be able to function in my job and earn a living. I would also not be able to sleep at night due to the pain I experience. He is also extremely responsible and on point with the treatment plan, as well being sensitive to changes in my condition and willingness to help adjust therapy to treat my condition.

I have great trust in Dr Thomas. He has excellent skill and always leaves me feeling better. I have visited him in both Manhattan and Englewood NJ offices. I couldn't ask for a better doctor to treat my back pain.

I highly recommend Dr. Thomas. He is great doctor and one of the best pain management specialists in NYC. I am a female with Crohn's disease and have been a patient of Dr. Thomas for many years. He has given me excellent treatment and advice and has treated me with respect, care and compassion. His office staff have been courteous, helpful and efficient - I've never had to wait long for a callback and all of my issues have been dealt with quickly.
