Dr. William S Potter III, MD

I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Potter given how he treated me. His rudeness and unprofessional manner was appalling and insulting. He was very out of line and I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a doctor. The was no treatment and the eye exam was cursory and unprofessional.

Dr. Potter was angry, arrogant, dismissive and did not even do the eye exam properly. He rushed me through so fast that it was nearing abuse. I will never return or be treated that way again.

As an adult I have been going to Dr. Potter for many years. He did my muscle surgery and I consider him one of the finest doctors out there. I have had occasion to be on the other side of the door and overheard him talking to parents and a child at the same time that I was reading an article about how to best judge a doctor and what questions they should be answering etc. He hit every one of the bullet points in that article. He is always patient, understanding and when I brought a student of mine who didn’t have money to see him because I suspected a problem with the child’s eye Dr. Potter even offered to help me with the cost of his visit if I needed it. I don’t know who some of these people are talking about when they’ve written reviews but it is definitely not the Dr. Potter that I have known for many years! No I don’t come from money and I drive up from Danbury to see him. As a well educated professional when I read over some of these negative reviews I have to believe that… they’re written by somebody with a grudge because so many of the words used are the same and I think there’s someone out there trying to hurt his reputation. Again there would be no one else that I would be willing to trust my eyes to than Dr. Potter!

He is arrogant and rude--unbelievably so. I would not recommend him to anyone and it is a disgrace taht he works with children. He was condescening and unprofessional with me and I would not trust my eye health to him. COuld not get out of this office fast enough.

Dr. Potter is the most unprofessional physician I have ever encountered. He is condescending, rude, pompous and impatient. I would not recommend him to anyone---ever. Seems to have significant psychological problems. Very angry and treated me so badly that I could not believe he gets away with it.

I have been treated by Dr Potter for about 12 years. He is always kind, explains conditions well and is a pleasure to deal with.

I ENCOURAGE YOU TO AVOID THIS DOCTOR. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO BADLY BY A DOCTOR AS I WAS BY HIM. HE JUST GETS AWAY WITH HIS UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR AND CHARMS THE NEXT PERSON.

My son had a blocked tear duct. We waited it out for 14 months, but the issue did not resolve on its own and required a probing procedure. Dr. Potter was very thorough in describing the procedure and addressing any questions or concerns I had. I never felt rushed and had full confidence in his abilities. I would highly recommend him.

I had one of the worst experiences ever with Dr. Potter. He is incredibly arrogant and condescending even to adults never mind children. His exam, of me was unprofessional and he could not get through it quickly enough. When I had to read the letters on the eye chart he stopped me at the first two letter and moved on. I was outraged at his attitude toward me and his behavior in general.

Took my son to Dr. Potter. His office was way backed up. My 3 year old son waited well over an hour before being seen which is crazy for a child that age. When we finally saw the doc, he was condescending about our concerns. We were not satisfied with the visit and went to a different pediatric ophthalmologist in Stamford. Experience was much more pleasant and the new doc found a major issue Dr. Potter had missed.
