Dr. Yasmeen Sherali Gowani, MD

Very self absorbed in her own theories. She doesn't listen to understand/Treat your specific condition (A Possible Misdiagnosis): I will never forget the horrific comparison she made to provide her so-called medical theory and explanation related to what she thought my lung's condition. I still can't erase that image from my head.

Very caring, ask questions, understands your health issues.

I don't recommend this office because they have bad customer service they don't answer the phone promptly and they make you wait and then they hang up on you three times I called and after 10 minutes the phone hangs up automatically, Also they did not fax my prescription to my p provider I have sleep apnea and the use of a CPAP machine is required for my good health.

Dr. Gowani has been incredibly helpful in getting me the sleep I need!

I had told doctors about my extreme exhaustion for 10 years and no one took me seriously. After my appointment with dr. Gowani, she immediately scheduled me a sleep study, diagnosed my narcolepsy and my life has changed dramatically. It’s amazing to get through a day without being bone tired. Doctors who listen are so important ! Thank you!

Met her as on call pulmonologist at Dr. Phillips Hospital. She decided within 30 seconds of entering the room that a sleep study in her affiliated facility was needed. She did not truly listen to the patient, my symptoms or do an examination.

We had the misfortune of meeting this terrible “physician” during a hospitalization at Dr Phillips Hospital where she was the weekend on-call Pulmonologist. After walking in to the room and pronouncing within 30 seconds that she could tell “just by looking at him” that my husband had sleep apnea and needs a CPAP, she also managed to misdiagnose and misinform us about his lung condition causing us horrific anxiety when she proclaimed my husband would need surgery on his lung. Her bedside manner (or lack thereof) is appalling. She also proved to be incompetent, as a chest x-ray revealed her diagnoses to be completely wrong. She later called to say “whoops”. As we later learned, Gowani is notorious for diagnosing sleep apnea and ordering $leep $tudies because she is in bed with the $leep $tudy programs. Completely disgusting. This woman should lose her license to practice medicine.

She is rude has no bedside manner is unprofessional and had the nerve to cancel a procedure at 5pm the night before after it was confirmed by her staff at 9am that morning.

As a new patient, I filled out the typical forms PLUS a three-page questionnaire, automatically included, on my sleep habits. Huh?(I was there for a lung issue.) During my first and second visits, Dr. Gowani was more interested in pushing me to undergo a sleep study--implying that a recent condition was likely related to sleep apnea. This was even though my answers to her questionnaire did not indicate any apnea or other sleep disorders. I did, however, speak with my neurologist about any need for a sleep study; he agreed there could be some relationship, but referred me to another sleep specialist. I did undergo the study and there were no sleep-related issues at all; I scored very low (which definitely corresponds with my answers to Dr. Gowani's questionnaire). Very disappointed in this doctor (and my wife also had problems with another doctor in this practice, which is in a "high-rent area" and probably needs to find ways to support its overhead).
