Dr. Dung Nguyen, MD

Would not schedule my procedure unless I paid in advance, although I am fully insured. Apparently, they are not satisfied with the insurance reimbursement. Consequently, they want to the patient to pre-pay the desired fee, although they are under an umbrella insurance contract. A lot of misleading and deceptive claims were made by her staff about whether the procedure was in fact covered by insurance (it was). After the surgery, I was only dealing with the nurses and physician's assistant, as Dr. Nguyen is not available. Very disorganized scheduling, as almost all appointments were moved at the last possible minute. Including requesting moving the date and time of the procedure. I had to point out that there were considerations of Rx's which had to be discontinued. Shouldn't they have known that was a key factor? Switched to another surgeon afterwards, as I totally lost confidence and trust.

Dr Nguyen is an amazing doctor. I have had several surgeries with her. First was reconstruction with implants 6 years ago. I recently removed my implants due to the implants making me sick. Dr Nguyen performed a diep flap surgery and I love how I look. I look so natural and my breast are beautiful. My tummy looks amazing as well. I trust Dr Nguyen to perform my surgeries and any touch ups. I highly recommend her. Stanford is great. The staff is wonderful as well. I have had no problems at all and I’m super blessed. I also recommend Stanford as a place to go for breast cancer treatment

I was a breast cancer patient at Stanford. I went through three surgeries with Dr. Nguyen. She was supposed to place an implant in my right breast for symmetry on two occasions. She failed to do this both times. I was not informed about this after the last surgery and actually believed an implant had been placed. I found out the shocking truth at a routine mammogram nine months later. There was no reason for any of this to occur. She also placed a textured gummy bear implant in my left side without telling me about the risks of BIA-ALCL. I never would have chosen that type of implant had I known about this risk. I trusted her completely and I now feel very betrayed. I will need to have another corrective surgery elsewhere to fix all this. I expected quality care and honest communication from the Director of Breast Reconstruction and Adult Plastics Clinic at this prestigious institution. This has been a nightmare for me and I do not recommend Dr. Nguyen after what she… deliberately put me through.

I made my initial apt a year ago. Since then the staff have called me today for the fourth time to reschedule. I don't understand what the reasoning is as to why they needed to reschedule so many times but to me it's very unprofessional. Everytime they've rescheduled the next apt is months out and the staff is not very sympathetic when they call. That I also didn't understand. I have asked my primary for another specialist even if they're out of my area. I'm very disappointed as I have been waiting a long time and I could have maybe found another dr sooner that seems to know how to schedule their patients accordingly.

My wife had reconstructive breast surgery from Dr. Nguyen this year. As much as I want to try to be positive, it is simply not possible given the poor workmanship that Dr. Nguyen performed the surgery and the poor follow through with my wife post surgery. Some of these physicians are not helping to improve the Stanford name. I would highly recommend to carefully look at other options and not be enamored with the Stanford name

Dr. Dung Nguyen is the best surgeon. She did my reconstructions for my double mastectomy for breast cancer and she did an amazing job. I look great and feel great. My breast look real as if I never had breast cancer. I highly recommend to everyone
