All he ever did was read the blood work and said it was good. Now with a new Dr I found out I have hashimoto and celiac disease. Never should have been put on Hydrocortisol,

one of the brightest drs. in virginia. saved my husband's life twice with his diagnoses.

I have had nothing but pleasant visits with Dr Matthias! My husband is active duty military and with all of ours moves I’ve had a few endocrinologists. Dr Matthias is by far my favorite. He isn’t one of those doctors to look at your chart and simply write prescriptions. He takes the time to educate you on blood work and how they correlate with symptoms. I also like that he is straight forward. He will tell you like it is and I appreciate that. Above all, he is very uplifting. I feel less burdened with my illnesses with his help.

WITHOUT a doubt one of the most caring physicians I have ever been treated by for many years. There is frequently a wait because Dr Matthias does not RUSH thru your appointment. He makes you feel you have all the time needed to tell him how you are doing. Anyone who complains about the wait does not appreciate the time he takes when a patient is having a rough time. HE IS GREAT!

I am a past thyroid cancer patient and over the past 30 years I have had many different Endocrinologists, none have been nearly attentive or meticulous as Dr. Mattias. I am being treated for Prostate cancer and it has resulted in serious effects and loss of energy to nearly the point where I could not get up from a chair. Dr. Mattias did exhaustive lab tests and then adjusted my medicines and all my former energy has returned, even while being treated for cancer. THANK You Doctor!

Unusual in this day, HE LISTENS!!! And after listening he makes his tests and then KNOWS what is wrong AND how to make you better. GREAT MAN!

I went to Dr. Matthias for management of hypothyroidism, after having my thyroid removed (cancer). I visited him three times and he never once touched my neck. He sat in the chair across from me and talked. How can he determine if there are any nodules or anything that needs addressing, if he never touches the patient? The last time I was there, he did not close the door to the examining room. There was a patient sitting in the examining room across the hall (with the door open also). She and I could easily have had a conversation. I'm sure she was privy to every word that Dr. Matthias and I spoke to each other. Very unprofessional. His office staff, specifically, Maggie - does not do what she says she will do. I went for blood work three different times and the order had not been sent over, after Maggie had told me she would take care of it. Incompetent, in my opinion. I went to the office and confronted her. She was very condescending and rude. I will never go back to that office. Do… not recommend.

As reading the reviews I do not want a doctor who refuses to help with thyroid. You should listen to a patient they know their own system and how it works. Doctors are to help along with the progress.

Dr. Matthias has been very accurate in both of his observation of my Thyroid in 208 and 2013 which lead to a Total Thyroidectomy. He is very professional, compassionate and a people person. He follows up with you the old fashion way. (by giving you a call at home to make sure you are okay). He also goes the extra mile for his patients. Great job Doc. I highly recommend Dr. Matthias.

One of the best doctors I have been to. His bedside manners are terrific. He takes his time on explaining things and answers all of your questions very thoroughly. With that being said he often is running behind due to the fact that he is so thorough. It can be frustrating but I try to understand that he spends as much time as necessary with each patient including myself. His staff is not as great. 9 times out of 10 they are rude and lazy. Every so often you will catch them in a great mood. I have considered changing doctors numerous times after dealing with them and have had family go elsewhere because of them but it's hard to find a good endocrinologist in the area so I've decided to stay for now. I don't miss an opportunity to let Dr. Matthias know about his staff just to make sure he knows if I do leave they are the reason why.
