Dr. Earl P Taitt JR., MD

Was heavily sedated by meds from another psychiatrist, Dr Taitt knew what was wrong with my diagnosis right away and adjusted my medications. I’m feeling and doing much better. Yes he is a little odd but he knows what he is talking about.

Dr. Taitt Does not talk to you if you only want an RX with no feed back except for prescription information he's your doctor. The man is strange.

His staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. Dr. Taitt doesn't actually LISTEN to what you are saying most of the time or if he is listening he cuts you off. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone suffering from depression and so forth.

First off - to be fair - Dr. Taitt is a nice person. He has long wait times but he takes his time with people and will bend over backwards to help you in an emergency. His staff is VERY kind. I have always appreciated that about him. However- I do need to tell the truth on my care experience... I saw Dr. Taitt for 2 years after a post-partum anxiety episode. To be fair, he did not prescribe me the initial medication I was on. (Klonopin, which is a benzodiazepine). My OB-GYN prescribed that and then they asked me to see a psychiatrist. I have a M.S. degree in neuroscience (ironic, I know) and had never had any psychiatric challenges, however my hormones after the baby were wacky. :) I started seeing Taitt and taking the benzo once a night for sleep. Yes - it helped. But as SOON as my period returned 2 months after giving birth, my entire mood normalized and I was ready to get off the meds. However, he encouraged me to stay on them and told me I was making a big mistake. So I… stayed on them. I saw him every month like clockwork and used the medication (one pill) just as directed. Never more and never any differently. In 2 years, I became tolerant to the benzo and my ENTIRE body began to go into tolerance withdrawal. I did all my own research and brought it to Taitt and showed him what was happening to me with my husband in the room. He looked nervous and wasn't sure if he "should" agree although my research was from genuine medical journals. I brought him more than 95 articles from original research. Use of benzos for longer than 2 weeks can cause terrible dependency and neuroadaptions in the brain! My body had undergone this state and my anxiety was 100 times worse than anything normal. I lost 30 pounds in tolerance and had constant diarhhea, depression, and vomiting. He then told me "depression can happen on Klonopin" and wanted to prescribe and anti-depressant! He refused to acknowledge I was in benzodiazepine tolerance and told me to "just stop taking it", and I had to go to a private detox to get off the drug because my body had adapated to being on it. The next 2 years of my life were excruciating mental and physical pain while my body attempted to restore the brain balance of GABA and glutamate. He is completely unaware (or feigns disbelief) of benzodiazepine tolerance, tolerance withdrawal, and benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, which can last 2-5 years for many patients. These drugs are more tightly regulated in other countries and there are support groups for withdrawal, etc. These drugs should never be used for more than a VERY short-term treatment. It is scary to me what happened to me - but now that I am off the drug and it has been a few years, I have returned to normal without need of any medication. Today I am not on anything and have NONE of these symptoms. These drugs are CHEMICALS. They are not medications like antibiotics for bacterial infections. NEVER take a benzodiazepine for more than 2 weeks at the start of other medication therapy such as when starting SSRI's. He had me on this drug for a few years and it completely damaged my entire body. I can't say anything bad about him as a person. His staff are wonderful and his practice is compassionate. But at the end of the day, I had another consult with a psychiatrist who said "OMG, get off these benzos." That scared me as a patient because I was treated for 2 years on a drug that I should never have been given long-term, and then the doctor prescribing them dismissed real research. I was then left to deal with the fallout alone. To this day, he likely does not believe benzo withdrawal syndrome exists, and he says has many patients on benzos as a prime therapy. This is startling and sad because as educated as he is, he is unwilling to understand that certain drugs cause more harm in the body than they do good. I am completely off all psych meds and FAR better. Please just be careful that you don't find yourself always believing what a doctor says. At the end of the day, we are all human beings - and just because he has a degree does not mean he will understand how these chemicals will affect you. He does not make or research the chemicals. It is simply the ONLY thing he can treat you with. Without prescription drugs, he doesn't have a job. Keep that in mind. You may need no drugs at all. I have since found excellent relief for occasional anxiety and insomnia with appropriate nutritional supplements such as magnesium, zinc, B vitamins, and probiotics for brain/gut health via the vagus nerve. Upon further testing, I have pyroluria and simple nutritional supplements changed my entire brain state! The causes of these issues for many of us (and they are REAL issues) - are physical. They also have physical treatments that "cure" the challenge and do not cover it up with chemicals that further hurt us in the long run. It may take a little work to get to the right doctor to help with healing us naturally, but it is worth it versus what I experienced. Love to all of you. I hope this helps. :)

As of this writing I have visited Dr. Taitt once. Iâ??ve found him to be remarkably astute. He accurately diagnosed my problem (s) and prescribed the medication I needed to return me to a pretty normal life. I suffered for approximately the past 3-4 years prior to my visit with Dr. Taitt. I look forward to a long association with Dr. Taitt. I found his staff to be quite pleasant also.

I've read the other reviews, & I agree with some of the points the points being made. Yet I am still a patient. Dr. Taitt occasionally gets patients who are in crisis, and he sees them as soon as he can. Those Emergency appointments bump other patients' appointments back without notice. I've been an emergency, I've also been bumped (more times than I can count) & the only thing the staff will say is "the doctor is running late". Doctor Taitt's staff speak english with a VERY strong accent, which makes them hard to understand. The Doctor's handwriting is the epitome of a doctor's bad handwriting. It looks like a series of bumps & squiggles. But he can read it, his staff can read it, and they work with pharmacists. It's true that he will get offended if your employer demands he rewrite documentation. But he will work with you. It's true that doctor Taitt is an odd egg. He uses some pretty out there stories to connect with his patients. Sometimes the stories morals hit home, sometimes it… feels like you're stuck in a bad National Geographic special. But he tries. He really wants to know what's going on in your like & how that's affecting your condition, and that's more than I've gotten before.

I read a review where they said Dr. Taitt prescribed the patient what he/she wanted and then said, "I knew it wouldn't work" later. I can see that happening because a few times I have done some research and asked Dr. if I can try a new medicine; he usually does comply but sometimes he will not if he knows for certain that the drug will not work. For example, I had asked if I could get on Wellbutrin to help me with my libido and he said that it may not be as good for my type of depression but we could try for the sake of my libido. Well, he was right about it not being good for my depression and it did not help my libido either. But I appreciate that he works with me rather than just dictating what I should do. He does keep careful notes and is well aware of what has worked for me in the past and what has not.

The wait time depends on how busy he is, sometimes it is 20 minutes, sometimes it is an hour and no one lets you know how much longer. But that is nothing in comparison to the real problems they cause. Dr. Taitt's handwriting is terrible - absolutely impossible to read. Any documents/ prescriptions he produces will create numerous issues: the doctor's note for work is illegible, the prescription for the pills is impossible to read and as a result - issues with your boss and inability to get the necessary pills. They refuse to rewrite the notes clearly and per his receptionist recommend: "to see another doctor that has a better handwriting". So please save your time and money, see another doctor right away! Terrible experience! Will NEVER go back there! Very disrespectful and offensive treatment.

I was impressed by Dr. Taitt's knowledge and insight in to my problems,and the medications and life changes I needed to feel normal and happy once again.

Dr. Taitt's determination saved my life. He never lost faith or interest in helping me overcome a life-threatening illness. Dr. Taitt draws from familiar sources to plant therapeutic ideas that make you think, and come to believe you can overcome a mental illnesses like severe depression. He's a fascinating doctor and in my opinion excellent in practice.
