I was recommended to this psychiatrist after my initial doctor left the practice. Unfortunately, my experience was far from helpful. During our single appointment, I felt pressured and questioned in a way that seemed intent on diagnosing me with schizophrenia or psychosis. I was asked vague questions like whether I 'hear' or 'see' things, and despite my clear responses, the questioning felt leading—almost nudging me to say 'yes' to symptoms I didn’t experience. This approach left me feeling misunderstood and uncomfortable. I quickly found another psychiatrist who respected my existing treatment plan, allowing me to focus on my goals and ultimately graduate, foster lifelong relationships, and maintain a positive outlook on my future. The craziest part? Later, I found a research article this psychiatrist had written about a year before I met her on psychotic features in PTSD, which seemed to influence her approach. Her focus felt shaped by her own research, not by a multifaceted… approach to patient care. I genuinely worry for anyone who may end up under her care. I always urge people seeking psychiatric help to avoid situations where the psychiatrist is motivated more by personal research interests than by a well-rounded, individualized approach to treatment. I'm grateful I trusted my instincts and avoided further contact.
