Dr. Bourne may look good on paper, but when I reached out to him on my surgeon's recommendation, his office told me he was unwilling to collaborate with me by sharing labs until we meet. As I am recovering from surgery and was trying to switch to a new PCP after problems in that area with my former PCP (withholding blood glucose numbers), that should have been enough warning for me, but since he has such good reviews and is supposed to be compassionate, and since my surgeon thought so highly of him, I went in personally and wound up getting booked in for an appointment with the understanding he would take me as a primary retroactively, if Humana would approve this (which Humana said it would if he's on the list they gave me). We also booked my wife in through normal channels for the following month and switched to him as PCP. Well, the next day when Humana called to confirm and informed Dr. Bourne's office that there would be additional administrative paperwork needed from Dr.… Bourne's office for final administrative approval on their end, his office REFUSED, cancelled my appointment and dropped my wife as well?! I sent a three page letter practically begging this man to treat me medically, singing his praises, and explaining how badly I have fallen down the rabbit hole from Westside (serious clinical incident in ICU, bad discharge advice and wrong medicine at discharge)...Univita home health and their subcontractor principle...Dr. Terrero my former PCP doing absolutely nothing, writing no referrals and not sharing info...again, practically begging this man to just help restore my faith in the medical profession because I'm bleeding, need a doctor and need correct referrals...and you know what, he dropped me, my wife and didn't even have the courtesy to inform me. Now today when I called his office to get to the bottom, his office manager Pascal tells me Cindy should never have booked me, my wife had not been dropped but it was decided (based on events that occurred AFTER they dropped me) by the doctor that he doesn't want to see me and that's his right, and Pascal said that it was Humana's fault while Humana says Bourne's office refused to do the paperwork that would have let me flow to Humana authorization/approval for the early switch. Pascal got Bourne, who with agitation hides behind the fact that yesterday I informed my surgeon I'm moving over to Cleveland Clinic and so he decided it was in my best interest (recall this occurred AFTER he dropped me) and when I point out that NONE of this was in my best interest, all of it cost me time, energy, stress and post-surgery became a blockage to needed care, he said what you see in my title..."I didn't want you as a patient". Thanks for the refreshing honesty. I highly recommend avoiding this man because his staff - Cindy who is probably a nice lady and DID manage to book me AND my wife in as new patients - is a nervous nellie who told me TMI when I relayed information about my colostomy bag - perhaps this is the wrong business for her, and also note they are "too big of a practice" to maintain a cancellation list for early openings. Pascal, the office manager, she's the one who spoke to Humana, dropped my appointment from Cindy and refused Humana's request for confirmation that they would take me retroactively, and finally, most importantly, this purportedly kind, caring and compassionate doctor one door over from my specialist, my surgeon, who highly recommended him, didn't even have the courtesy to respond to me regarding a three page letter begging for his care and furthermore, told me I didn't want you as a patient (his right, but of course his staff had already booked me so now I have a delay in care, a legal and ethical dilemma becuase I was damaged by his office's actions), and also he doesn't want my wife and SHE'S been cancelled?! Good lord what is the world coming to and how did this man ever earn a distinction of compassion?
