Dr. Editha Cacho Orlino-Oliva, MD

I decided to pick Dr. Orlino-Olivia because I thought having a female OB would make things more comfortable..wrong! This lady is the worst OB I've met up here, and after working at Generations of Women and already having two children, I've met a few. First, she misdiagnosed me, after telling me I should be further along and something was wrong. Secondly, when I went to the lab to have my second HCG Quantative done to confirm her misdiagnose, she checked the wrong box on the lab form so I was almost checked for diabetes instead. And finally, good thing I cc'd the results to my PCP or I would still be worried and wondering considering she failed to follow up as promised. All in all her staff is the only thing she has going for her since she is highly unprofessional. I am sticking with an OB I know and trust and would recommend for anyone considering her to stay away!

Dr Oliva was cold, rough and vindictive. I say cold because she showed no compassion, empathy or even basic professional connection. From 34 weeks she started to push for scheduling a hospital stay for induction, despite the fact that I had specifically requested not to be induced on three occasions. The young receptionist is a sweet and caring girl she does her best to make up for the interpersonal short comings of dr Oliva. However, medically Dr Oliva is rogue, she swept my membranes without my consent during a physical examination. When I challenged her about it she made no apology for her intrusion into my body and right to choose for my delivery. At my husbands request I followed her medical advice and did schedule an induction when told to, however this was after she told me I'd greatly regret not following her advice sooner. My daughter was born at 3:23am, the nurses called Dr Oliva when they realized that I was in constant pain on the pitocin and despite increasing dosages was… making no progress for 3 hours at 8.5cm. Dr Oliva had gone home despite the fact that she had insisted that I schedule my induction at a time she was on duty at Mercy. THe nursing staff at Mercy were incredible, but I was left with the option of a c-section and there were no staff on duty including my own doctor. In hind sight, if Dr Oliva had simply looked at the ultrasound she ordered for me just a few days before my induction she could have seen that the fullest part of my daughters head was stuck in the narrowest span of my pelvis making a natural delivery impossible. Having sneered at my avoidance of pain killers, i endured 18 hours of pitocin enhanced back labour completely unneccesarily. When I returned to have my stitches out she asked me how much if my pain relief I'd taken to which I informed her that I wasn't taking it and felt I was recovering well with little pain. Dr Oliva said "you're going to regret that" and proceeded to yank at the staples, which naturally was going to be pretty tender. I have a healthy baby girl, the c-section was performed adequately well, but every other marker of professional behavior escaped Dr Oliva, she is rude, cold, rough during physical examinations and does not value patients wishes or require their consent to perform procedures. I am currently pregnant again, I will not be returning to Dr Oliva, I had hoped for better from a female obgyn, clearly a woman's right to choose for her body doesn't extend to the business of giving birth!

After going to many gynecologists in the past, none found my med problem! I finally felt better on the first day of treatment as prescribed. She listened w/interest and was very professional and most of all,caring. I would highly recommend her!

I had a very bad experience with my first Doctor so a friend told me to try Dr. Oliva and loved her so much I went back to her with my second child.

I recently came to Dr. Olivia for Laser Liposuction and had an absolutely terrible experience with her. First, I wasn't able to see any before and after photos of the work she has done on other patients. She rushed into the consultation room and immediately began drawing on my stomach with a marker without asking me any questions, then proceeded to tell me what areas I needed done even though they weren't the areas I wanted. Maybe if she had taken a minute to talk to me first she would have realized this. Then when she told me my back had a nice shape, her receptionist said that I looked three months pregnant! I was appalled at their lack of patient care and professionalism. You would think that in a small town like Redding a person's reputation would count for a lot, but apparently she isn't concerned about the way she makes patients feel.

all she wanted to do was cut me open for no good reason i delivered my child fine complication free!! she was in our room every hour tryin to cut me up! probably for more money or so she could get it over with and go home!!

You obviously have never lost a child. I'm glad that Karma is very real, because someday your cold and unneccesary remarks will come back around. Regardless of whether she could or couldn't stop my labor, her manner is what I had a problem with. And I don't care how long she's been practicing, it doesn't make up for her lack of compassion. If you were smart enough to read my comment, I didn't say that she didn't do what she should have to stop my labor. I said that she was rough and very cold. Big difference, but I guess for some feeble-minded, evil person like you that would be expecting too much.

I highly recommend her to everyone who needs an OB doctor. She has been with me through 2 of my pregnancies and I trust her to have mine and the babies best interests at heart. She is a very knowledgeable and practical doctor.

This Doctor is very cold, rough, and she just doesn't seem to care. I don't have to share my story...just a warning for the women who might go there: the young receptionist is awesome and hopefully one day she will run the practice, yet Dr. Oliva does and do not expect her to care about you. Very cold!!!

I had the worst experience of my life with this doctor. I went into labor at 22 weeks and so my doctor sent me to the hospital to try and stop my labor. Dr. Oliva was on call and when she came to check me, she said it was ridiculous that we were even trying to stop it. She then "checked" me very roughly, after which my water broke and I ended up having my son and losing him because he was much too premature. I can't prove that she did anything, but in my heart I feel she did because before she checked me, the nurse had just checked and I was only 5 cm dilated and my water had not broken. Less than two minutes later, Dr. Oliva said "I'm sure she's dilated to ten by now" and when she checked me, I "coincidentally" had my bloody show and shortly after my water broke. But, even if she didn't actually cause that, she was nonetheless very cold, no compassion whatsoever. She also had a malpractice suit in 2000. I really hope she loses her license so that she can never hurt another woman.
