He was very nice and made sure I had a good time. He made conversation pretty much the entire time and helped me forget that I was even in the dentist! I was having a root canal, and although it was supposed to be painful, Dr. Akioka made it a breeze. He made sure he took his time so that there were no sudden shocks of pain, while numbing my gums whenever I felt immense pain, and allowed it to kick in so every time I felt less and less pain until I was just breezing past all pain.

I did visit him for about a year and received exceptional dental care, yet at that time I was unwilling to use novocaine, so I did experience some pain. As someone who has further received dental care, I plan on returning to his office and will this time allow him to use novocaine so that he can be more thorough without causing me much pain. That is, if novocaine is going to be necessary in what I may need done, which we will find out once my exam and X-ray results are completed and received. I recommend that people on the Big Island of Hawai'i with a need for dental care do go to him.
