Dr. Edmund T Carroll III, DO

Today was a very frustrating experience with Dr. Carroll at the new office in Millsboro. I accompanied my mother with a suspected torn meniscus to meet with Dr. Carroll. While the administrative and nursing staff was relatable, attentive and considerate, the experience with the physician was nothing short of disgust. He was condescending, arrogant, dismissive, belittling and more within the first five minutes of the appointment. While a physician may be an expert, with proven best practices, at the very least should speak with a patient and discuss their concerns. Dr. Carroll presented a very “my way or the highway” approach to my mothers care plan without any consideration for her thoughts. Insofar as intentionally turning his head while she was speaking with crossed arms and shaking his head. All over a cortisone shot. I’m sure this message will fall on deaf ears. If you’re reading, Dr. Carroll, I hope that even just for a brief moment you’d consider that your patients are deserving… of more than just a lecture. That you would have a bit of compassion, humility and understanding and not be immune to the day to day you see, and meet people where they are.

Dr Carroll is a great surgeon and a very caring doctor. From my initial appointment to the post op /rehab follow up, I felt confident that I was receiving the best possible care. I can recommend Dr. Carroll, without any hesitation, To any individual seeking a total knee replacement (or two).

Dr. Carroll is very knowledgeable. He will take time to explain the problem, and answer questions. Don't expect to chat about the kids. He doesn't rush, but doesn't like to waste time. He is direct, and doesn't sugar coat. He could use a bit more tact, but I'd rather have a doctor who is good than a doctor who wants to be my buddy. His staff is excellent.

I had been to another ortho doctor who I was not completely happy with. My experience with Dr Carroll and his staff seemed much more professional to me, he took the time to explain to me my options in a way I could understand. And he is really skilled with cortisone injection. Thankyou Dr. Carroll

Dr. Carroll knows what he is doing and is a really good surgeon. He is very direct and keeps on the subject at hand, meaning he isn't going to be chatting about the weather with you. Bedside manner may need tweaking some but he is a good doc. I am very happy with my bi-lateral knee surgery. My legs are straight and things are going very well. Job well done.

I recently had a total shoulder replacement with Dr. Carroll and I am now playing golf, fishing, etc. with little or no pain. I have even forgotten that I had the surgery. I still have a problem with getting my arm straight above me but I think it will come with time.

I disliked him so much that I decided to get a second opinion. Deplorable bedside manner.
