Dr. Edmund John Messina, MD

I have been a patient for a year and a half and have been so happy that I found Dr. Messina. The whole office is all about finding out what works for you. They know there is no magic bullet for a chronic migraine sufferer and they go the distance, listen and work hard to figure out a solution for each patient. Will never leave. The best in care for sure!!

I have just recently been dealing with the headaches and neuro symptoms. It took a while to get in, but they said they would stick with me until I get relief. None yet, but i believe they care.

Do not let him give you Topamax!! That drug is dangerous and causes horrible side affects on the brain that are long lasting or even permanent (such as memory issues, forgetfulness, loss of words, confusion, not thinking clear, slowing of the brain). For me, it has been close to 10 years now since taking that medicine and I'm still struggling with these issues. Do not believe it when they tell you that once you stop the meds it automatically goes out of your system. Unfortunately, by then the damage has already been done.

This clinic is tremendous.

I have been seeing Dr. Messina since before he moved to the Lansing area. I absolutely had to follow him because he literally kept me going and on my feet. I can not say enough good things. He has seen me through numerous neurological issues and I have always gotten better with his treatments. My prognosis from other physicians has been a great deal of gloom and doom. Dr. Messina tackles these problems head on and makes a difference. I am only sorry that I can only give 5 stars! PS Staff is also outstanding.

You don't know how good Dr. Messina is until you have visited another Dr in same field. read his book "The Splattered White Coat".

Dr. Messina and Nurse Practitioner Noelle and the RNs at the clinic are the best. They gave me my life back!

Dr. Messina has been my migraine doc for 15+ years. He has a wonderful "bedside manner" and is always willing to discuss options, has always been and continues to be on the "leading edge" of headache/migraine treatment, and medicine side effects. He seems to be a voracious reader in his field and others so he is able to make connections between things other doctors don't. I consider him brilliant and am so thankful I was referred to him all those years ago. I didn't give 3 stars for promptness because when my wait is a little longer I know he is working with another patient who needs more time...and that's the kind of service I'd like when I need it! Appointments never seem rushed, he takes the necessary time and has a great deal of common sense as well as advanced education/learning. He is always able to explain his view understandably for me which is extremely helpful.

Dr. Messina has been my neurologist for over 20 years. I can depend on him for an educated response that is based on his decades of experience and research. I often say that Dr. Messina 'keeps me on my feet', which is true. Because of his care, I am able to maintain a 'normal' life which encompasses an active work and personal life. He has an empathetic nature and doesn't want people to have unnecessary pain and/or restrictions of activity. Therefore, I feel that Dr. Messina does his level best to help me and others overcome the obstacles we cope with on a daily basis related to individual medical needs. I can't praise this man enough. He is truly unique in every way and his knowledge, in my opinion, is unprecedented. To me, and I've been around, this man is a genius. I appreciate Dr. Messina so much and recommend him to anyone I encounter who may require the attention of a neurologist who knows what the heck he's talking about. And, he actually has a sense of humor. Bonus!
