Dr. Edmund Brian Paloyan, MD

My late mother was a patient of Dr. Paloyan. After taking her off her medication for breast cancer treatment 5 yrs. after her surgery (with no testing) she went to the E.R. in horrible pain. She was given a CAT scan and diagnosed by the E.R. Dr. as having a mass in her lung. This was on a Friday and they admitted her to the hospital. Dr. Paloyan didn't see her until Monday morning and discharged her. Three month's later, he ordered cemo therapy. At Christmas time she happily announced to the family that the Dr. had sad the cancer was shrinking. A month later she was back in the hospital. Dr. Paloyan gave her the news that the cancer had spread to her bones over the phone. When my mother asked why he was giving her this information over the phone rather then in person his response was " I have 150 patient's. I don't have time to go to everyone in person!" My mother was inconsolable. She died two months later at home. The staff was the rudest I have ever dealt with in a… medical office. When my mother passed away, there was no call or letter of condolence...just a bill. My mother was set to donate to the cancer center but after her experience left a donation for Hospice at Home instead. This man is the rudest person I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I have been a patient for 4 years, before and after a major influx of patients who transferred to Dr. Paloyan when another local oncologist retired. The office was always well managed, and remained so, even through a couple office reorganizations and a change of location. Dr. Paloyan has a more precise and analytical manner but is an attentive listener who readily answers questions in layman's terms without being condescending, displays and explains diagnostic and monitoring data, and is patient when I need to have previously discussed issues clarified. The clerical staff is efficient, and the RNs in the treatment room are competent, proactive, and upbeat without being overbearing. The only advice I'd give is that patients schedule appointments in the afternoon if possible. During my few mornings at his office, I noticed that a lot of patients with limited mobility or those who need professional transport tend to have morning appointments, which may account for longer waits. My… usual afternoon wait was as little as 5 minutes, and rarely 10. Dr. Paloyan typically enters after the nurse interview within moments.

Run fast! If you care about your loved ones, do not seek medical care from this man. Dr. Paloyan is a heartless man with absolutely no bedside manner. I beg you, Dr. Paloyan to seek another profession. I would hate for you, or another human being to experience what we went through with your office. You should NEVER be treating cancer patients!

Dear Dr. Paloyan,I have just met a doctor in my area who is right up my alley. Although my Aunt and I are grateful for your help, you never told us clearly what to expect. You are a very kind and gentle man but not enough information is not helpful. Just once I would have liked to hear from you that my Aunts cancer normally has a prognosis of about 6 months. Your intention to not dash her hopes, gave false hope and unclear expectations. Your concern in regard to her care after a second round of Chemo was right on the mark. I am her care giver and I have never been through this before thus had no idea of reality. Even in our private conversations you did not make it clear to me what to expect. When meeting with her new doctor I happened to take the folder given to us by Hospice at the nursing home and that clicked in with this doctor when he saw it. Right off the bat he clearly stated what to expect from both roads traveled. That was very important to us both. Again let me thank… you for your kindness. She is comfortable and pain free and of course sleeping allot. She has made her peace with the Lord and is ready to go to the other side. As terrible as all cancer is, I realize now the hardest part of your job is delivering the news. My intention is only to encourage you to more forcefully inform patients and family of what to expect. Thankfully my job so far has been a breeze and today I contacted Hospics. God bless you in your work,
