Dr. Edward Allcock, DO

Dr. Allcock is outstanding. He gets to know patients and remembers past conversations. Med schools should have students follow him to learn about kindness to patients, discussion techniques, and multitasking.

Dr. Allcock has been my stroke doctor since ***. He has been extremely concerned about my condition. He listens to me and adjusts my medications and walking aids or splints as necessary.

Dr. Allcock was absolutely wonderful, both during my hospital stay (post-stroke rehab) and on this visit. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I really enjoyed meeting Dr. Allcock. He is very knowledgeable, and I appreciated his sense of humor, and is familiar with my condition, spastic cerebral palsy. He took the time to examine me to find out what might be some options for me going forward. I asked him about doing botox and while he was willing to do It, he suggested taking [...] to try and relieve the muscle spasms I have on a daily basis. Dr. Allcock lists himself as a specialist in the area of pain management but he lacks two important qualifications:1) He is entirely uninterested in a patient's pain - where it is, what causes it, what helps it, etc.2) He has the zero empathy, zero "bedside manner" and is only interested in sending people to his physical therapy practice, not in helping them reduce or cope with their pain.I was referred to Dr. Allcock when my Physiatrist of 7 years left the area. I came with records from that doctor's files and he said he wouldn't need them because he prefers to make his own diagnosis and treatment plan. The first thing he did was an exam that produced so much pain that tears came from my eyes - and I'm pretty tough. Then he said I should not take any medication of any kind - starting immediately. Finally, he prescribed Physical Therapy at the clinic that he runs in Arlington. When I asked him how, with severe spinal nerve compression and massive arthritis I could manage my pain… with no medication at all, he laughed and said medication makes your pain worse, not better.If you check consumerscheckbook dot com, the largest directory of doctors rated by other doctors, his name doesn't get a single mention, though he sees a large number of patients.I strongly suggest you find someone else to see for your pain.
