Dr. Edward Po-Chung Chen, MD

Dr. Chen performed my husband's valve repair surgery in 2019. While Dr. Chen and his team of fellows were above board in their care, the follow up with his office has been less than acceptable. Standard issue responses without clinical acumen are not helpful to patients post op.

Dr Chen did my husbands open heart surgery in 2006..he had a anyorism on his Aorta and Dr Chen patched it and it went so smooth..now in 2018 my husband has to have a valve replacment and Dr Chen is the only Dr I trust with my husbands life...we live in Cartersville Ga and the hospital is about 70 miles from us....but I would drive a thousand miles to get Dr Chen to take care of my husband

Jim, who had multiple problems with his heart, was scheduled, after multiple exams, to have aortic aneurysm dissection, as well as a pig valve replacement of his bicuspid valve. Jim was an 81 year old who gave special attention to his vascular strength with daily exercise. He was the most vibrant 81 year old I had ever witnessed. After all the pre-op testing, Jim never came off of bypass successfully. He was kept alive for 3 days on a ventilator only to fail. If only aneurysm repair through the groin had been elected, he most probably would have been rewarded with at least 5 more years of life. I question the heroics of doing two very radical procedures to an 81 year old - while it may have been ideal - do just what was necessary, to give him the extended life he so desired.

my son Sean W Ham received excellent treatment of replacement Aorta valve and Aorta dissection repair from Dr Chen and I take my hat off to the amazing results. This operation took 9 hours and so far my son in continuing to recuperate and is now doing so at home. I want to thank Dr Chen and well as his amazing staff for giving us and our son a 2nd life.

Dr.Chen performed a triple cabg on my dad a little over a month ago, & I must say I am certain Dr.Chen is by far one of the best out there!!!

Dr. Chen took time with me to get to know me and my lifestyle and inform me of my condition and what needed to be done. He explained to me what he was going to do to correct my condition and what he needed me to do for the best results. He was very encouraging and understanding of what he was expecting of me. It is hard to find doctors in this day and time that will spend the time with their patient and put them in a positive frame of mind. He is Very confident about his abilities and what he can do to help his patients and puts them at ease. He assured me several times that he was going to take care of me and fix my condition. He listened to my concerns and was very supportive and informative with me and my family. I consider myself Very lucky to have been referred to him by my local cardiologist.

Dr Chen took on my complicated heart surgery in 2007 as an emergency triple bypass on five arteries. Dr Chen did what a major heart center in Chattanooga said couldn't be done (on my medical report, but did not tell me...just three heart pills each day). Dr Chen is a life saver, very greatful. Amazing doctor.

Dr. Chen was very personal. He was informative and very attentive about my concerns. I don't feel like I was the best patient that he has had but he has Thanked me several times for being such a good patient. I did the best that I could. I would refer any of my friends or family to Dr. Chen and his staff. He is an Excellent Dr. and goes beyond what most Drs. do with their patients' concerns. He is "The Best" in my book!

I had AVR 9 weeks ago. From the first time I met Dr Chen, I knew he was the right surgeon for me. He took time with me, gave me options, and genuinely cared for my well-being pre- and post-surgery. I recommend Dr Chen without reservation...
