Dr. Connolly serves as the Byron Stookey Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and the Surgeon-in-Chief of the New York Neurological Institute and the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia Irving Medical Center. He is also the Surgical Director of the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit, caring for patients suffering from the acute effects of both hemorrhagic as well as ischemic stroke.
Working as part of an extremely experienced and world-renowned team of critical care and stroke neurologists, as well as interventional radiologists, endovascular neurosurgeons, neuroanesthesiologists, and specialized nurse practitioners, he provides highly personalized, state of the art care for patients with brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, spontaneous hemorrhages, as well as for those patients with carotid stenosis, moyamoya disease, and cerebral ischemia due to atherosclerosis and other …vasculopathies. In addition, he serves as the Director of the Cerebrovascular Research laboratory which continues to be at the forefront of biomedical science, bringing the latest discoveries to the operating room and the patient bedside to not only treat but also prevent stroke.
Dr. Connolly's special interests include Brain Aneurysms, Arteriovenous Malformations, Carotid Stenosis, EC-IC Bypass for Atheroocclusive disease and moyamoya, and Surgical management of acute cerebrovascular emergencies.

Dr. Connolly is very compassionate, patient, and "fixed" my dural fistula. I am most grateful for this and his care and all of his staff's care.

Excellent reputation and richly deserved. Wonderful team demonstrating the highest standards in all areas and humility. Office, hospital staff (especially Neuro ICU) and Nurse Practitioner Evangeline responded to calls and were helpful with advice and support. Highly recommended

I needed someone to figure out why I was getting sick every day. I knew I needed to research and find the bests doctors I could find. Through many recommendations and much research we put my care in the hands of Dr. Connolly and Dr. Feldstein. This was the best decision. Their experience and knowledge guided them through my treatment and brain surgery. I am eternally grateful that I was operated on and taken care of by these two amazing doctors. I could not recommend them more. In addition, it should be mentioned that along with this practice you get the benefit of one truly incredible Nurse Practitioner Evangeline. Evangeline was knowledgeable, caring and supportive beyond any expectation. My experience and my families experience with this team was truly amazing.

Dr. Connolly saved my wife's life by performing brain surgery to remove a brain aneurism. His team kept us informed and showed great care and empathy during the entire process. Dr. Connelly made me feel at ease the moment I met him. Along with his Nurse Practioner, Evangine, they explained each step of my clip surgery procedure with patience and understanding of all my concerns and fears. I would highly recommend Dr. Connelly, Evangeline NP and their entire team if you need to have surgery. I cannot praise them enough for their knowledge and expertise. They are truly Angels with the gift of healing. I have been blessed by knowing them. I will be forever grateful for saving my life.
