Dr. Edward Sydney Friedman, MD

I have had issues with swallowing for a long time due to a CMV infection. I have had many endoscopies over the years with temporary results. Dr. Friedman performed 3 endoscopies 3 weeks apart recently and adjusted meds for me. I have had no problem since. I give this man my highest recommendation. And having had kidney failure for the past 30 years, I can speak with some authority and considerable experience on the effectiveness of doctors! I am so pleased to have discovered this brilliant, affable, and talented man. Also, his staff displays the utmost professionalism and care. I could not recommend anyone more enthusiastically.

Went to Dr. Friedman for his specialty with the gallbladder, pancreas, and liver (my gallbladder was diseased and had been removed three years earlier by another GI group, but symptoms never subsided). I hoped he would be able to answer some questions and find some solutions. The first appointment was rushed and shallow, but he ordered a colonoscopy and endoscopy, and I still felt hopeful as this seemed to be an obvious first step. However, after several hours in pre-op, it became clear the Dr. Friedman was not available for the procedures, and his partner completed the tests on his behalf. I waited two full weeks and never received a follow up call, let alone an apology for the issue. I understand accidents happen, but no ownership was taken on his part. After reaching out to his office multiple times, I finally told them to send me the results as I was going to explore other options. His nurse requested that we give him another shot, and I thought surely he would be more dedicated… after such a miserable experience. I went in for another appointment and waited two hours before I was called back. His NP was wonderful and concerned, and was thorough in her conversation with me. She said Dr. Friedman would be in shortly. Two more hours passed, and another nurse asked if I was waiting to be checked out. Nope, I was waiting to be seen. Four+ hours in, I was that desperate for help. Twenty minutes later, Dr. Friedman came into my room, asked me what tests we had run and how many other times we had met... that much time and he hadn't even looked at my chart. When everything came back "normal" with my scopes, he essentially said "I can run a few more tests, but about 70% of the people I treat are just like you." He then wanted to re-run another $8,000 test that I had done just months prior. Told me to try a gluten free diet. All I could do is sit in the exam room and hear him tell me that he probably wouldn't be able to help me... and that was the second time I'd met him. Thankful he suggested the gluten free diet, though. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease not long after... not sure how we missed that one. Dr. Friedman is undoubtedly brilliant, but is also undoubtedly unconcerned for his patients.

I saw Dr. Friedman for Gerd symptoms, which consisted of heartburn and feeling of something in my throat. This doctor did nothing for me. He only wanted to order an upper GI. He has no bedside manners and all while I was in the office with the nurse other employees burst in the room talking to each other and totally disregarding me. The whole office is ran like an assembly line. One patient had an appointment at 11:30am and my appointment was at 11:45am. I was done by 12:30pm. This consisted of me seeing a nurse, NP and doctor which all asked the same questions. This is the worse facility ever. Please do yourself a favor and do not see Dr. Friedman unless you want nothing done. I paid a copay for nothing and he did not prescribe any meds and said life style changes would help.

If good bedside manners are important to you then I highly recommend Dr. Friedman for any GI issues. He is knowledgeable, courteous, and does not rush. I never fill these out but felt compelled to do so in this case. Great Doctor!!!!!!

I've had stomach issues all my life and seen several doctors. Dr. Friedman is the first doctor to give me the correct diagnosis and treatment.

HE DIDNT GIVE ME A GOOD DIAGNOSIS I BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I WAS IN MY TEENS MOM HAS STOMACH DISORDER FAMILY HAS IBS AND HAVE HAD CANCERS IN FAMILY DR TILLMAN REFERED HIM TO ME WEST CANCER CENTER .
