Dr. Edward Joseph Goebel, MD

I have been lucky to meet a lot of wonderful people in my life, as well as a few amazing people. Dr. Goebel is one of the amazing ones. He has treated me for fourteen years and has been unwavering in his energy, commitment and compassion. Dr. Goebel is the kind of doctor who works tirelessly to do whatever he can to augment your efforts. He is extremely knowledgeable and skilled with the medication aspect (have not met someone more so), while also being caring and empathetic. He is encouraging and motivating. Life happens to providers too, but you would never know it with Dr. Goebel. He is always so consistent in his approach and efforts. I am certainly not the only patient or person who needs his help or attention, yet I have never felt rushed through a phone call or appointment. I wish I could adequately encapsulate the type of person and psychiatrist that Dr. Goebel is, but this field I am typing into has a character limit and I have OCD, so I do not think that is… going to happen. (I am not sure it could anyway.) All I can say is I am so thankful to have Dr. Goebel as a support.

I've been seeing Dr Goebel for about a decade. I've had doctors who I have trusted more and I've had a few really horrible psychiatrists. With Dr. Goebel there is no drama just the facts, no feelings of judgement or or ennui. I've never actually been in a crisis since starting with Dr Goebel. Good for both of us.

I would not pay too much attention to these negative reviews. I have been very pleased with Dr. Goebel and his professionalism. Having been treated previously by a totally unethical psychiatrist I know a charlatan when I see one. Dr. Goebel is my experience an excellent and caring doctor

When I met Dr. Goebel, I was rather uneasy but have come to trust him immensely. He is both thorough, and uniquely committed to each of his clients. I believe this is because of his character.

It is very difficult for me to read the negative reviews as my experience with Dr. Goebel has been far from what a few others have described. I was actually nervous going into my first appointment because of these reviews and because I was very fragile at the time. I was in a dark and low place when I first saw Dr. Goebel. I cried through most of my first appointment and I found him to be compassionate and optimistic. He explained multiple medications and gave me a thorough explanation of his recommended treatment plan and also explained why so many of my past attempts at mental health may not have been successful. For the first time in a long time, I felt a level of confidence that I was going to be ok. Within a few months, I felt like a completely different person. My paralyzing anxiety and depression had subsided and I was able to enjoy life again. I understand that everyone's situation and experience is different but I can honestly say that Dr. Goebel has always treated me with… respect, has never been judgmental, and has greatly improved my quality of life. It has been a few years now since I first started seeing Dr. Goebel and I still feel just as grateful as I did after our first visit.

He may listen but he does not hear and/or is unwilling to hear. Preys on patients seeking information and help. Has an agenda to push medication (big pharma). STAY AWAY FROM THIS "Dr"!

Dr. Goebel is excellent in his capacity to explain how medicines work. He is the best I've seen in many years at explaining why certain medicines are not prescribed and others are. He is patient in working toward the goal of recovery. He pays attention to what one says and speaks his mind, too. I did not deal with his staff so could not comment on those aspects of his work. I have no hesitation in recommending him. I regret his moving away from where I have been his client.

Dr. Goebel began our first and only interview by recapping, unasked, in stark terms, the horrific incident that led to my going to see him. After eight weeks on a medication, with recently developed alarming side effects, as well as the usual expected side effects, he was unwilling to consider a switch to another SSRI. Bedside manner is far less than Poor.

Edward Goebel has often violated the responsibilities of his practice. Very unethical behaviour. Stay away.
