Dr. Edward Francis Higgins, MD

I am a 42 yr. old renal patient. I met Dr. Higgins over 8 yrs. ago when I was originally diagnosed with stage 4 end stage renal failure. He did my surgery for my access and did an amazing job, I have never had problems (which is very important to me because I know many people at my clinic who have had to have multiple access's put in). He sometimes can be behind schedule, but I don't care because anytime I want him to look at a concern he always will work you in. He was also my 3rd opinion when I was told a foot wound of mine would lead to amputation. He is the only one who told me not yet and tried other treatments. I still have both feet my wound healed. Finally his bedside manner is second to NONE!! He has genuine care and concern for me as an individual. His support staff like Kathy are dedicated and dependable. I never write reviews, but wanted to take time to say Dr. Higgins is freakin' awesome!

There is a reason why Dr. Higgins does 75% of the vascular surgery for dialysis patients in the Metro; he is the very best! His skill and knowledge are incomparable and he has a wonderful bedside manner and thoroughly explained all the options available. I recommend him very highly. Be aware though, that he only sees patients one day a week, so his office is always packed and hectic. The office staff's attitude on any given day is a guess. Some are always nice and helpful, some tend to the cranky side most of the time, but the techs are great and so is he! When you get into see him, plan at least 2 hours for your visit. His expertise and care are well worth the wait to see him!
