Dr. Kosakoski grew up in Miami, FL, and is the oldest of six children. He attended the University of South Carolina on a Navy ROTC scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1973. He was immediately commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and shipped off to San Diego to attend Underwater Demolition/SEAL training at the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado. Dr. Kosakoski was a Naval Special Warfare Officer/SEAL from 1975 to 1982 and served tours of duty at Underwater Demolition Team Twelve, SEAL Team One, the Naval Amphibious School, Coronado, as a SEAL instructor, and the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC. Dr. Kosakoski resigned his regular commission as a naval officer in August 1982 and entered the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville, FL. He graduated with his DMD in 1986 and rejoined the Navy as a Navy Dental Corps Officer. He completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, …IL, in the Chicago area in 1987, then practiced general dentistry for nine years. While in the Naval Dental Corps, Dr. Kosakoski served tours of duty at Camp Pendleton, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, the Naval Training Center in Orlando, a one-year assignment to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, IL, and the National Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Kosakoski completed his Advanced Endodontic Residency training at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD, in 1997. He retired after 26 years of naval service in 1999. Dr. Kosakoski established Carmel Valley Endodontics in 2002. He designed the practice from the ground up to be a comfortable, state-of-the-art facility that would make the necessity of endodontic treatment absolutely the best experience possible. Dr. Kosakoski is married to the former Susan Nicolette of Youngstown, OH. They have a 19-year-old son, Nicholas. They make their home in the community of Santaluz. In his spare time, Dr. Kosakoski enjoys sailing, snorkeling and SCUBA diving in WARM water, the occasional winter ski trip, and follows most sports. He’s a Charger fan now, but those Miami Dolphins are a close second!
