Dr. Edward Jay Kowlowitz, MD

One of the most disrespectful, rude, and down right hateful doctors I've ever had to encounter. Took personal phone calls in the middle of my appointment. Told me I obviously had memory problems because he didn't believe my injury as it actually happened. Also proceeded to tell me my other doctor was stupid and didnt knownwhat he was talking about. If you're looking for a caring and compassionate doctor he is not the one for you!

The rating system won’t let you pick zero stars or he would be at zero. He doesn’t care about you or what you are going through. This opinion moves beyond health care. He’s a terrible human being. No one should have to go through that.

I am 40 years old, a Health Care Professional myself, and happen to require opioid treatment after having 2 failed back surgeries in 2012, including a failed spinal fusion. I was a patient of Dr. K's and Sandy (the PA) for 3 years. I lost a little bit of my dignity each and every visit. I was belittled and treated as though I was a drug addict having just shot up in the bathroom. The stereotype given to patients who actually require pain medication is enough as it is, but to be treated that way by those you entrust and depend on to give you somewhat of a normal life is something nobody should have to experience. Nobody asks for such a significant injury. Nobody wants s chronic medical condition that you must live with for the remainder of your life. There is nothing i wouldn't give to just have a good back again. If I had diabetes and needed insulin I certainly wouldn't be treated this way. I understand the opioid epidemic, I understand the need for strict regulations. I undetsand it… is risky for the physicians who prescibe this type of medication because of the issues world wide. I understand te need for random drug testing, however, if I had any other chronic health condition, that would not be the case. If I was psychotic and needs psychotropic medication that usually consists of medications considered to be mind altering, I would not be getting drug tested. The other side to the epidemic is that real patients with real pain with very real painful conditions are being either tuned away and left to live out their life in pain.....or they are treated the way I just described here when they go for treatment to try to functionality.. It is such a shame. The Center for Pain Management and their staff were so rude to me and to nearly every patient I seen being interacted with at the office.... beginning with receptionist. There is always urine all over the bathroom floors when you go to leave a specimen. You seriously can't even sit down on the toilet and every surface is either visibly soiled or covered in urine. I have never been treated so utterly disrespectfully in my entire life by "health care professionals, Dr. Kowlowitz, and his PA Sandy have lost touch with what it means to be in this profession and I think they have forgotten that maintaining their patients dignity is an important aspect of what they should be doing. I absolutely recommend reviewing all other options before choosing this place for treatment if you require pain medication.

Dr. Kowlowitz always listened & provided best diagnosis & treatment. I did not like having to see Sheila Abbe. She seemed to care little & had me kicked out of practice. Pain treatment esp w/ all regulations make it difficult for people w/ real alignments & confirmed diagnosis to be treated & be treated w/ respect...NOT like some weak drug addict. Pharmacies are horrible. People who abuse the system hurt all patients & therefore everyone is treated as a "problem." While I never felt this w/ Dr. Kowlowitz, I did w/ rest of staff.

Good doctor and felt he was thorough... he doesn't run on time, so you have to plan for that, but other that, felt he was thorough and isn't about just giving meds. I did not want to just take meds or become dependent on them.

Great visit

I've suffered with lower back pain for many years and seen several doctors in my life but Dr. Kowlowitz really took the time to discuss my symptoms and the different medical treatments I have tried before he made a diagnosis and recommendations. Thank you doctor - I'm finally on the road to recovery.

I was greeted courteously...and helped graciously by evereryone that I saw.

Dr Kowlowitz was very detailed in his description of alternative drugs and their strengths. He carefully described the new proposed treatment. He is obviously very knowledgable about his field. I feel that I will be getting expert advice concerning my pain management.

I received Lumbar facet injections with sedation. From this and many previous procedures, the staff and Dr. Kowlowitz are absolutely first rate! They are very knowledgeable and professional. I have been a patient here for 7 years. I am very satisfied with my care.
