Dr. Edward Anthony Stehlik, MD

Over the years, Dr. Edward Stehlik has refused repeatedly to prescribe antibioltics for my now-91-year-old mother-in-law. Three weeks ago she incurred a deep flesh wound in her leg by falling into the corner of her bed. Her daughter, my wife, treated it topically with advice from my sister, an ER Registered Nurse. It was healing slowly and developing a red halo when my wife called Dr. Stehlik after a week, texting his staff photos of the wound when it occurred and current photos to ask that he prescribe antibiotics. Not only did Dr. Stehlik refuse to prescribe antibiotics, he never came to the phone; all communications was with office staff. He did offer to send a wound care technician to our house in the middle of a pandemic; we refused because my mother had died only three weeks prior of COVID19 after a wound care technician treated her in assisted living. A trip to Well Now Urgent Care in Tonowanda resulted in the prescription of doxycycline, but they warned she probably… should get an injection only available in an ER. The doxy made little noticeable impact. On May 4, my wife took her mother to Kenmore Mercy ER, where they found an infection, injected antibiotics, and prescribed topical and oral antibiotics. Dr. Stehlik's autocratic and uncompromising attitude could have resulted in my elderly mother-in-law's death. His judgment is execrable and could have been (could still end up being) fatal. We have terminated our relationship with him.

Dr. Stehlik failed to treat substance use disorder with medication assisted treatment and as a direct result my sister died at age 44. Our family had no chance to give her a liver transplant or support her recovery because he never diagnosed her disease correctly. Just because people have addiction disease doesn't mean they deserve a lower standard of care. Dr. Stehlik caused my family a tremendous amount of pain and suffering.

He is a very understanding. He will spend the time and listen to your needs. I trust him with my life. I would highly recommend him. He is a Great Doctor.

Doctor Stehlik is a wonderful doctor. He is a very kind man, and has been my doctor for 20 years. He has caught problems that have saved my life several times- things that other doctors have missed.

Dr. Stehlik has been my doctor for years. He always takes time with me to answer all of my questions to make sure I am comfortable with the resolution...even during his last appointment. Very nice bedside manner- never offensive.
