Dr. Edwin Heidelberger, MD

After a series of falls and a car accident involving my father, I flew from Florida to New York to assess his condition. When I arrived, I found him in extremely poor health -- unable to stay awake for more than 20 minutes at a time, struggling with coordination, unable to walk properly, and having difficulty thinking clearly. I immediately scheduled an appointment with his primary care physician, Dr. Edwin Heidelberger, and began reviewing my father's medications. This was difficult because he had been prescribed 17 different medications. During that process, I became deeply concerned about several prescriptions and dosages. My father had been prescribed insulin at 62 units twice daily. He followed the prescription exactly as he was told. This resulted in dangerously low overnight blood sugar levels, sometimes dropping into the 50s. His current physician expressed serious concern regarding this dosage. I also discovered he had been prescribed carbamazepine at 1200 mg per day, which… appeared to leave him lethargic, confused, and unable to function normally. His current neurologist was surprised by this treatment plan, especially since my father has no seizure history and subsequent EEG and VEEG testing reportedly showed no seizure activity. Since transitioning away from Dr. Heidelberger's care, my father no longer takes carbamazepine and now only requires 5 units of insulin daily. His health, alertness, and overall condition have improved dramatically. Based on my family's experience, I would strongly encourage patients and caregivers to carefully review medications, ask questions, and seek second opinions when necessary. I would also not recommend Dr. Edwin Heidelberger.

Dr. Heidelberger goes above and beyond. Calling after-hours if needed, will do telehealth visits, and even provided care for us after we moved out of state, before we could find another provider. We'll miss him terribly. Seriously, really good Dr.

What a terrible Doctor no wonder he is at the Springville location. NEVER calls patients back even in an emergency!! Don't expect if you have a test to be called with results either - that doesn't happen even in a pretty dire diagnosis.

Dr. heidelberger is a great guy and a great Dr..but it is too bad his staff is horrible. Getting a refill every month is like pulling teeth! The staff is just horrible. I can't stand dealing with them any more.
