When a depression hit me, I tried so hard to fight it myself because I was afraid of medicine. The pain of depression was too unbearable. Dr. Wachter is one of the very few psychiatrists that does gene testing. I wanted to make sure I was prescribed a medicine that I could tolerate. After the gene test results, Dr. Wachter worked with the report to prescribe the right type of antidepressant. I was so afraid, but she reassured me that I was doing the right thing. She didn’t want to see me suffer. Depression is such a debilitating illness that is treatable with help and support. Dr. Wachter has so much experience in this field. She has helped me get my life back.

Dr. Wachter makes you feel as if were her only patient. She is smart, perceptive and remembers everything you say. She asks questions that help you reflect on the issue at hand with your own head. But she also gives you hints of possible explanations. She is interested in every aspect that can make you better, including medical problems, nutrition, social and family relationships, work, and other activities. There is enough conversation during therapy that I feel engaged and forced to think. She genuinely cares about her patients and is a master at putting pieces together and helping you see the big picture, where what we are say or do is all connected. She has a great voice and demeanor that contribute to create a nice atmosphere and help you trust her and her expertise.
