Dr. Shafa exceeded my expectations for the complex revision back surgery I have had on 6/2/2026. Dr. Shafa listed to the symptoms and his diagnosis was perfect. He took the time to fully understand the complex history and come up with a plan together. He is a great human being. Unlike the 3-4 surgeons who said nothing was wrong, Dr. Shafa took my case and the surgery went extremely well. The recovery was difficult as expected of revision surgery but far less painful than expected! Not only did did Dr. Shafa remove the pressure that caused me horrible pain (9/10), but he also restored sensation to my left leg and foot that felt like wood for several years. For the first time in a decade I can walk without a cain just six weeks post surgery and I have started to cut my pain medication and hope to be completely off, or close to off within the next 6-8 weeks. I couldn’t recommend Dr. Shafa warmly enough for his expertise as a great surgeon who diagnosed and repaired my back where other… surgeons did not care and dare go. He is a great human being and I am grateful for his incredible help!

Dr. Shafa was the first doctor in more than five years to give me real answers about my spinal issues. He setup a phone call with me 4/27/26 talk to me about 6 minutes, send he was going to get some information about a shot I was given a year ago. Then call me that night. It 5-11 still no call back. Can’t even get him to answer my messages. Trying to get answers about my MRI.

Dr Shafa is a knowledgeable physician that knows how to communicate with his patients. He has the ability to convey complex issues in a manner that is understandable. Dr Shafa answers questions directly and in an understandable manner. While a skilled surgeon he explores less or non evasive treatments. His mannerisms are confident not arrogant. This results in a relationship that builds trust and comfort. I am glad to have him as a part of my care team. I would recommend him without reservation

Back surgery not gone according to plan, in a lot of pain at the base of the spine and the right leg. More tests to be done. We'll see about the outcome

Dr Shafa is very kind and considerate. I am extremely pleased that he was my surgeon. If I ever need additional spine surgery I will contact him
