Dr. Elaine C Wirrell, MD

We went to Mayo Clinic to see if there was anything else we could do to help our daughter. We basically wanted that reassurance we are doing everything we can to help her seizures. She has epilepsy that has gotten worse once she hit puberty. She also has severe scoliosis that worsened as well upon puberty. We met with Sr Fine in neurology who was absolutely amazing and he wanted to see a full inpatient eeg study to get as much information as he could to give us his opinions. Upon being admitted we met Dr Wirrell. She made several comments that our neurologist in Denver knows we are here. And that we are already in good hands with our doctors here and we felt like we were not welcome from her. We love our doctors here and that had absolutely nothing to do with our decision to go to Mayo Clinic. We needed reassurance there was nothing more we can do as parents. Her comments were rude and out of line and we didn’t appreciate her attitude toward our family at all. Everyone else was so kind… and welcoming until we met Dr Wirrell. Mayo Clinic has the reputation of being the best and that’s why we went for more knowledge.

My experience at Mayo with Dr. Wirrell has been wonderful. I feel like I am in good hands. She is very caring, sensitive and with do what it takes to figure out what is going on with my son.We are still in her care and ordering more tests, I feel she will get to the bottom of his condition. Would highly recommend her,

Dr. Wirrell is the best kind of physician. Not only is her depth and breath of knowledge beyond compare--her character is one of deep commitment and caring. As the mother of a child under her care, Dr. Wirrell has grieved with us during the worst times and celebrated with us during the best times. She is a Godsend!

I have been seeing Dr. Wirrell recently. I think she is a great doctor. She really knows her subject matter in which she is treating me and is also really nice. Also she laughs at all my jokes which helps to make me feel better. I hope all is well for her.
