Dr. Elaine Ziavras, MD

I saw Dr. Ziavras previously at KP, and recently came across her notes while reviewing my records. I felt obligated to warn others. I have since been diagnosed with bilateral Keratoconus and Epithelial Basement Membrane dystrophy. A competent ophthalmologist should know that with Keratoconus, glasses aren’t effective due to the level of higher order aberrations caused by the corneal distortion. I saw her to discuss my eye glasses not improving my blurred vision. After a brief exam she accused me of + charted that I was “Feigning Illness,” a very harmful thing to flippantly accuse a patient of because it impacts future care and credibility. My vision continued to worsen. When diagnosed with Keratoconus it had significantly advanced. The vision loss I experienced between her accusations of “malingering” and my diagnosis is irreversible. No ethical doctor would diagnose feigning illness in a 15 minutes without further investigation. Steer clear of Dr. Ziavras if you value your vision and… reputation.
