This man is a rude, egotistical, impolite know-it-all with bad manners and questionable medical knowledge. A self-important poor listener, he interrupts and talks down to you. Good place to go if you want to be treated poorly and insulted.

I've gone to Dr. Fasnacht for a couple of years. The only time I've had trouble making an appointment is if you have never seen him before. So if you plan to make a first appointment, don't wait until you need to see a doctor right away because it takes a month to get a first appointment. I find Dr. Fasnacht very thorough in his testing, examinations, and in finding a solution. He advocates healthy living and preventive care. He goes over test results with you and you are given a printed copy without asking. You are also given a printout of diagnosis, treatment plan, medications, vitals, etc. He is down to earth; and, after having lived in Carbondale for 13 years, I've finally found a doctor I will stay with.

His bedside manner is cheerful, chatty, and optimistic. But, like a lot of modern doctors, he talks fast, moves fast, reaches conclusions fast, and rarely slows down to listen--in the extreme. The biggest problem is the excessive optimism. Nothing's ever a problem. That's great if you are a worrier, I suppose, but not great if there really is something wrong. He tends to dismiss serious concerns--a few years ago, I had to keep coming back with what turned out to be a tick borne infection before he slowed down enough to really figure it out. Right now, I'm waiting for him to give me the results of a test for a problem that could be cancer. It's probably not, but I'd like to know. It's been a week, I've called once, and now I've called again, and I just found out he's now on vacation for another week. I'm glad he's not worried, but I am!And, no, I'm not a hypochondriac. I don't go to the doctor often enough. That's why I've put up with him so far. Time to change.

Once you are done trying things on your own, thinking you don't need a "regular doctor" and wasting your time... go to Dr Fasnacht! He set me straight and keeps me "in line" regarding my health. I have gone to him for over 12 years and can say I don't "dread" going to the Dr! He takes a management approach to health and is very pro-active. He doesn't dance around an issue, and will cut right to the heart of getting you on track! He also knows when to refer to a specialist - if needed. If it is one thing I can say, he has made me understand the need for a health history...knowing how your labs are when you are feeling good...yearly physicals to maintain a track record...how can you know what "normal" is you only go when you are sick?! The urgent care doesn't "care" that you get well, only that you are coming back for another test or treatment...they have no interest in "wellness" care!

Nurses are excellent. Office staff & billing dept are horrible. Dr is very knowledgable.
