Dr. Eleanor Martinez, MD

Dr. Eleanor Martines is possibly one of the most self-centered, insensitive Dr./person I have ever met. She did not listen to anything I was trying to tell her about my situation and condition. I NEVER wanted her was my OBGYN, I was "grandfathered" into her profession by my OBGYN who retired. Dr. Martinez always wanted to know about issues in my life that did not concern her. Medically or personally all she needed to do was give me my yearly check up. I was so disappointed in her care and comments to me that I left and had to pay $50.00 for my personal file. Her office said the $50 was "policy" that I was notified of when I started with Dr. Martinez. HOWEVER, like I said I was "grandfathered" in and NEVER told of such "policy". With that said, I have yet to find any Dr. charging over $25 for a personal file. And ALL negative comments on yelp I AGREE WITH concerting Dr.Martinez. She needs to retire or learn how to be technically be up with the times. Everything she does is hard… copy and it made it very difficult to communicate with her and other doctors. Why am I giving her 1 star?because I do respect the profession she is in just NOT her.

I started to see Dr. Martinez when I was 16...I had a UTI and had to confess to her (and my mom) that it was because I was sexually active. Mortifying as a teenager, but hilarious in hindsight. We still joke about it. After a 15 year break of seeing other doctors (only because I wasn't living in San Jose anymore), I had a terrible experience with a doctor in San Francisco regarding some unusual test results. I immediately fled back to Dr. Martinez and she talked me off the ledge. She retested everything and educated me on the results and next steps. She takes her time, sits down and asks how you're doing, explains things in great detail, and genuinely cares about her patients. Much different than the fast paced, in and out nature of big practices who only care about making a profit. While she's a straight shooter, her bedside manner is one nurture and care. I now have Kaiser, but continue to see Dr. Martinez, paying out of pocket (driving from SF for regular check ups). She astute… intuition also discovered my mom's breast cancer, which was in the glands and not a lump. If it wasn't for her early detection, things could have turned out a lot worse. I can't recommend her enough.
