Dr. Elena Byhoff, MD

Dr. Byhoff listened to my symptoms for a grand total of 30 seconds before cutting me off, examining me (without telling me what she was about to do), and rushing me out the door. She did not ask me any follow up questions but somehow determined that I’m fine. She didn’t help me with my issue. I’m still having symptoms and will go to another doctor. Seeing her is a waste of time.

This doctor is dismissive and condescending. When I addressed the fact that she continued to interrupt me without letting me complete my sentences, she brushed it off and said it’s a “bad habit doctors have.” I needed an appointment quickly and it’s not hard to see why this doctor had immediate openings. I also left my appointment having gained no new information nor a thorough investigation into the source of my issue.

Throughout the entire apppointment Dr. Byhoff was condescending and disrespectful. She exhibited and extreme lack of professional courtesy and showed no empathy for my health condition. When attempting to give her my patient history she cut me off immediately and claimed 'you keep going off on a tangent'. It should be noted the appointment last less than 10 minutes, there were a total of 2 patients in the waiting room, and contrary to her perception she did not allow me (the patient) to speak for more then a few seconds at a time. When I communicated with her that I felt extremely uncomfortable with her behavior and behavior, she dismissed me. I went on to say I did not feel comfortable being examined by her, but she indicated there was not much else she or I could do and continued with my examination. The outcomes of her lack of professionalism, disrespectful and aggressive behavior: 1. I did not receive a thorough examination or diagnosis of my condition (as she brushed away key… parts of my patient history and ignored most of what I said). 2. I had to schedule another appointment with another physician the following day and had to suffer through excruciating pain without receiving proper treatment. 3. I felt even more emotionally and mentally distressed than I was when I initially came. I am not sure if this is her characteristic behavior or if she treated me this way because she has some prejudice towards particular people of color. Nevertheless, it is by far the worst physician interaction I have had and I strongly urge other patients to be aware.
