Dr. Elias A. Zias, MD

In 1999, Dr Zias performed a CABGx4 on me. I was 56 and he told me it would last 10 years and I might need it again. It lasted 21 years before I developed any problems. For that I am forever grateful. What I remember most about Dr Zias was that he stopped by every night at the end of his very busy day. Sometimes it as after 9 PM. He sat and we talked. He spent whatever time I needed and more. His bedside manner was absolutely the best! He was a wonderful surgeon and a wonderful person. I have no reason to believe he is not all of those things today. If there were 10 stars instead of 5, I would be happy to award them all!

He is a master at what he does. One of the best cardiologists/surgeons in NYU and maybe even New York. He saved my life with a 5-bypass surgery, and he made us feel so confident and safe that we walked in and out with a smile. But the best part of all is that beyond his profession, he is a good person inside too. Thank you Dr. Zias

Dr Zias performed triple bypass on my partner of 37 years. After the surgery the patient was doing well and then failed due to lack of oversight. The doctor insisted the patient would be fine and did not continue to monitor. As a result my loved one went into sepsis, had FOUR additional surgeries to try to save his bowels and intestines, was non responsive after the second surgery. However, the doctor's ego didn't allow him to be honest, and also he was NOT available and did not see the patient at the start of things going wrong. Finally he was INSISTENT upon a needless final surgery despite it being against my partner's stated wishes and mine as his healthcare proxy. You have been forewarned and there are far better cardiology surgeons around in NYC.

The doctor performed a full CABG, aneurysm repair and aortic valve replacement on my grandmother. She wound up having 3 surgeries within 4 days and was required to be in a medically induced coma for several days. The doctor told us that without the surgery she would have only had a few months to live. She passed away 2 days later in the hospital. The doctor called to express his condolences 2 days after my mother called his office for an explanation. He didn't even call the cardiologist that recommended him to tell them that their patient passed away. My mother was the one who had to break the news to the cardiologist.

Dr Zias is a wonderful doctor. When my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer, we were able to get an appt with him the next day and the best part was that we didn't even have to go down into NYC..he has an office in Yonkers which made it very convenient. He offered to perform her lobectomy at St Johns, his thinking is that medical support should come to the patients and not have the patients have to travel. His bed side manner is truly remarkable. He offered his cell # and said if we ever needed anything to give him a call. He saved my mom's life, for that i'm always grateful. Thank you Dr. Zias

Dr. Zias, performed a biopsy on my husband's sternum for cancer. My husband did in deed have cancer. The diagnosis was relayed to me when I received a cell phone call while walking down the street that my husband had cancer and he had 5 to 12 months to live. The doctor made an appointment to see my husband the next day, but didn't show up to the appointment his office saying that he was too busy.
