Dr. Elisabeth Marie Scalva, MD

I found out that I was pregnant shortly after moving to Grand Junction and blindly was assigned a physician when I called the clinic my insurance recommended. I thank God every day for sending me to Dr. Scalva. She helped me navigate a high risk pregnancy that with skill, humility and humor. We spent a lot of time laughing and talking at each visit and though I know she was very busy, I never felt this way. Anyone should be thrilled to have her as a physician.

Dr. Scalva exceeded my expectations with her. Super impressed with her and will reccomend her to any expecting mother. She was amazing!

Loved Dr Scalva, I went to her for a consultation and met her for the first time today. She is so down to earth and made me feel so comfortable. She answered all of my questions to whatever depth I needed and I didn't feel rushed AT ALL, which is a nice change from the Dr I saw last. I am excited for her to be my Dr for my next pregnancy and am completely comfortable going to her even though my pregnancy will be high risk.

I was seeing Dr. Wittman (who is also great) before she left on maternity leave. I chose to see Dr. Scalva as I needed to have a procedure and did not want to wait for Dr. Wittman to return. When I spoke to the receptionist and told her I had questions and wanted to speak to Dr. Scalva she said she would relay the message. Dr. Scalva called me after hours in her free time to ease my mind and was very helpful. When I saw her in the office she didn’t rush my questions, is knowledgeable and sympathetic. I highly recommend her and not to mention nurse Jamie is awesome.

I’m 27 and have never missed a period my entire life nor have I ever been late. I’m very regular 29-31 day cycles. I have missed a period and have had some symptoms of pregnancy so I came in to see Scalva. She did a urine test and it came back negative. Being 18 days late that most likely means I’m not pregnant, okay I accept this. But what’s wrong then? I’m extremely regular and this has never happened, and why the other symptoms? She literally didn’t examine me, she took one look at me and made an assumption to my diagnosis. PCOS! That’s a serious diagnosis for just looking at someone! I think I have some other serious underlying issues that has brought me to this point of missing a period. I could have anything wrong! My insurance didn’t pay for her to look at me from across a room and assume what’s wrong, why wasn’t I properly examined to make sure PCOS is the true issue, or something else? You don’t tell someone they have PCOS off of a feeling. Plus she never actually explained… what PCOS was to me or what my future holds. I had to google PCOS to even understand it and what I should do. She literally just told me she thinks I have PCOS and I should lose weight, calorie restrict and exercise, then left the room. I’m now scared of what’s happening to me and I have more questions and fears than I originally did going to her office! Worst doctor I have ever been to.
