Dr. Elizabeth Jeanette Delgiacco, DO

I’m a breast Cancer Advocate (NBCC) and LEAD Graduate living in STX. Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet Dr. DelGiacco during a office visit while assisting one of her ‘ Breast Cancer Patients’ navigate through the extreme barriers and red tape to get her cancer medication. Dr. DelGiacco’s nurse and staff were extremely patient and helpful while making numerous calls between the pharmaceutical company and the insurance company ....resulting finally in approval for a medication for breast cancer treatment that cost $11,000. Which is probably one of the reasons it was so difficult to get approval. However, Dr. DelGiacco went out of her way to make sure that her patient was going to be able to get her medication so that treatment would be possible at home and not off Island which is very costly and phycological impactful without family and friends. Under the treatment and care over two years ago in STT the medical team was successful in getting the same medication but not the… complimenting shot, Unfortunately the patient went untreated for almost two years. Fortunately, with the medication authorization the patient can stay on Stx where she lives and be comfortable with her breast cancer treatment with a wonderful and oncology TEAMWORK. We are so happy to know that STX has a Professional Oncology Doctor whose compassionate and goes out of her way to meet the needs of the patients first. Diane Hampton, The Breast Cancer Advocate
