Dr. Elizabeth Ellen Gleghorn, MD

I’m still haunted to this day by the callousness manner in which Dr. Gleghorn told me that my son had a rare genetic condition. “It’s just a genetic condition, not a disease” she said coldly as she ushered me and my then 1 year-old towards the reception area after spending a total of 15 minutes with us. She offered no sympathies or further explanation about what we might expect from my sons condition, and she seemed extremely bothered by the few questions that I ask as we walked down the hallway. Dr. Gleghorn is an extremely competent doctor that is far better suited working in a clinical environment where she does NOT have to interact with patients. Her beside manner is absolutely atrocious! I am sad to read that other patients have had similar experiences.

Abusive to parents, have to fight to get her to do ANYTHING she is suppose to do. Should not be practicing, she is clearly not enjoying her job or working with people and has zero empathy or desire to be helpful. There is something missing inside of this person. Reflects badly on a wonderful hospital. Children not getting help and suffering because of her lack of responsibility to anyone but her own ego.

We were extremely disappointed with the care and "help" we received at this appointment. My daughter has been sick since birth and we were told Oakland Children's Hospital would be able to help. Dr. Gleghorn's bedside manner was terrible. She pretty much just blew us off, insinuated that we were over reacting and exaggerating the problems. She then went on to tell us that some people just have problems and need to learn to deal with the pain. This was our first (and definitely the last) appointment with her. The patient she was telling to learn to "deal with the pain" is a 6 year old little girl. Dr. Gleghorn didn't offer us any solutions other than a basic blood test that I could have gotten from my regular pediatric office. We've dealt with UCSF, Stanford and now OCH. This is the worst experience we've had by far.

Dr. Gleghorn has been my son's GI for over two years and is wondeful!

My son saw this doctor. I guess she couldn't be bothered to read the paperwork from our medical group, and she certainly didn't bother to talk to me. Had she taken the time to get some basic information, she may have been better equipped to help my child who is still ill but is finally being helped by another pediatric GI who bothered to read the files and who bothered to listen. Worst doctor ever.
