Dr. Elizabeth Anna Laura Hamlin, MD

Dr. Hamlin was professional and did a lot of “listening.” However, on more than one occasion she fell asleep while “listening.” She did not offer much guidance, direction or help and after almost a year of therapy together I left in the same anxious and depressed state that I started in - perhaps worse. I felt judged. Sadly cannot recommend.

In contrast to the other review, Dr. Hamlin has exceptional knowledge of psychopharmacology. She also has very in depth training in psychoanalysis which has a good evidence base behind it. She's quite effective at what she does, is comfortable in more challenging cases and is very bright. During therapy, part of the process is to process uncomfortable matters as we can not change by merely staying where we are comfortable. Believe it or not, many things we do, wear, and say have further meanings all the way down to the language or subtle wordings we use. She is not about easy fixes, enabling, or blowing smoke or fluff around. She gets down to business with the goal of helping the patient progress.

This doctor has too little experience to be working in the line of work she is. She tells patients at Eating Disorder Centers that their clothing has "hidden" meanings, and "they should really think more about it!" Making them feel worse about themselves than before they started with her. She needs to learn how to smile, and get a sense of humor. Takes herself a bit too seriously. Puts her own wants and financial needs of Rogers ahead of the patients' welfare. Her entire career began and ends at Rogers..so her allegiance is to them, not the patients. Look before you leap into inpatient at Rogers...
