Dr. Elizabeth Anne Maher, MD

She's the very best! She's always upbeat, but honest about how things are going. She always offers support services to ensure the very best care. She's kept me alive since 2008, with her, I'm sure I would have not survived my cancer for as long as I have.

She is very poor respond. Patient care is not her best quality. When the going gets tough, she likes to relinquish.

Her misguided advice destroyed my family before my husband succumbed to glioblastoma. She’s a true scientist- brilliant. But her flippant advice of life affairs without fully disclosing realistic prognoses can be detrimental. She vowed to come to my husband’s funeral after years of treatment...she was a no show. The compassion is feigned and reserved for the success stories. Once the success deteriorates, so does her bedside manner and interest in your case.

A great professional doctor , wonderful woman, sharp, very logical, best adviser, awesome teaching method, a healer. Love and respect her as the most special female neurologist in neurologist department.

We have used Dr Maher for the treatment of my father in law's glioblastoma. After 10 months of seeing Maher, her telling us the Dr at MD Anderson gave us false information and his diagnosis was wrong. We have now found out through radiology reports done at UTSW that the dr at MDA was correct all along because it was shown in reports and NEVER discussed with us. If you are looking for a dr who gives you "rainbows and sunshine" each time you walk in, but do not want to know the facts, clinical trial options, other treatment options other than chemo or radiation, and someone who leaves out detrimental facts to further treatment options then Dr. Maher is the doctor for you! Once we realized the tumor was growing significantly more, her response from her staff: " she's going to consult with MD Anderson and let us know the following Tuesday" two days after that she lets us know to seek help with MD Anderson or Duke again by her staff. No phone call, no email. This was relayed to us by the… nurse after we called in for another update 3 days later. I guess when you have no sunshine or rainbows to deliver you can not deliver ANY news.

Dr. Elizabeth Maher is an excellent physician. She is intelligent and on the cutting edge of brain tumor research. She goes above and beyond to make sure that I am comfortable and fully aware of what we are discussing, and her bedside manner and sweet spirit sends a true friendship feeling.

Well, don't really know where to start. First, she talked me out of listening to the "best cancer hospital in the world" when they misdiagnosed me nearly 7 years ago. I was told I had grade 3 brain cancer by that hospital in Houston and needed to do chemo and radiation if I wanted to see my 26th birthday. Dr. Maher disagreed and told me she thought it was grade 2 and we should "save our weapons" until needed. I'm now 31 and still see Dr. Maher every few months. She's an incredibly nice person and loved by all her staff, and I assume patients. I no longer consider her my oncologist, but friend. Great woman.

Dr. Maher is very knowledgeable and has excellent bedside manner. She is direct while being compassionate. I have always felt like she was "on my team" as we came up with the best strategies for my situation to battle cancer and drug side effects together. Her nurse, Maryanna, is super friendly and goes above and beyond to meet my needs. Dr. James Battiste will meet with me sometimes and he too is great.
