Dr. Elizabeth Schowe, MD

I have had 8 doctors in 3 states across the country, and most would agree I am often a pain. I always question everything they do and I want to understand everything in detail. From this experience, Dr. Schowe is one of the few whose decorum, dedication and effort all speak to her patient's health and happiness. She gets 9.2 out of 10 in my book. Her staff subsequently gets a 8.9, which is excellent! And just as I did when I was a manager, she makes sure that it is the team effort that makes the difference.

I am actually shocked that Dr. Schowe is one of the few I have had in 3 states that passes my review of how her decorum, dedication and efforts to patient care all speak to same the goal of keeping me and all her patients healthy and happy. The moment I entered the room, it was terrible. I pulled out a paper that I had written some things down on because I didn't want to forget anything. I had saved up the $300 for the out of a pocket visit. As soon as the crinkled paper started to make noise the nurse quickly lifted her head and barked, "The Doctor only will hear about one concern per visit," like this Doctor was some rock star. She then stated, "She will not prescribe for any controlled substances either!" I must have looked like a drug seeker in my athletic shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops. The nurse left and entered in the Doctor; the scowl was immediate. I tried to lighten the room by starting a conversation about Lisa Marie Presley and how she is 14 million in debt after a 100-million-dollar inheritance. Nothing, absolutely nothing. "So, you had a heart attack?" She questioned, I replied with the history and she kept on with the interrogation. She asked me some questions and implied that she was going to… order some tests because my symptoms were highlighting a PE. I explained to her that I didn't have insurance, and she made quick light to give her motives. "Well, I have to order the test; it's what I see, it's up to you whether or not you get the tests, that way I've done my job." Are you kidding me? After this pleasantry, she started to explain that she was not going to fill my prescriptions because she wasn't comfortable with it and was going to refer me to a clinic in Goshen, 40 miles away. I explained to her that I saved this money up to see her, and I didn't have a car. She paused to which she started gathering her stuff, and while she went for the door said, "I can just cancel the appointment if you would like me to." I agreed and left. Is this the depravity of our social norm that has bled into the realm of medical care? It's an absolute right, in my opinion, to be listened to and cared for in regard to as human beings and the right not to feel ill, if it can be corrected and or prevented. It doesn't surprise me with the anger of our youth and the state of our politics. We have Dr's like Elizabeth Schowe MD walking around everywhere. Real character is only shown when leadership and esteem are given, and the receiver shows compassion, love, and acceptance to the downtrodden. Dr. Schowe, you did not pass the test. However, don't worry if I do have a PE and die your notes will relieve you of fault. Fault only within this world, but beyond your notes is where I would be concerned — shame on you.

Dr. Schowe is interested in hearing what you know about your problem. She doesn't simply make up her mind at first glance of your symptoms. She cares about your whole health picture an treats you in order to make sure what is bothering you isn't from other lifestyle, environmental or other conditions.
