Dr. Elizabeth Ann Shelton

Dr. Elizabeth G. Sheltonattended Coastal Bend College, which was then called Bee County College, and continued her college at Angelo State University.  After receiving her B.S., she was accepted into dental school.  She earned her D.D.S. in 1995 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. 
Dr. Shelton served her country as a dentist in the Navy for four years receiving additional training in oral surgery.  She received valuable experience providing dental care to marines and sailors and serving as an officer in the Navy.  Dr. Shelton also has experience serving the dental needs of patients in Kingsville, Austin and Goliad.  She lives in Beeville with her husband, who teaches at Coastal Bend College, and her two sons, who attended the First Baptist School and now attend St. Mary's Academy.
Dr. Shelton was employed in another dentists office in Beeville for about ten years.  She found it very upsetting to see small children year after year …being referred to Corpus for treatment and coming back in later without the work done because their parents could not transport them to and from Corpus.  She remembered that Dr. Julia Diaz, a friend from dental school, had a special gift for working with children and wished she could help.  However, the office did not have nitrous oxide, which Dr. Diaz required for her work.
In time, Dr. Shelton opened her own office (Bee Center for Dentistry, P.L.L.C.) at 902 North St. Mary's Street.  She made sure she set up nitrous oxide and the other equipment needed for children.  Although Dr. Diaz, her husand and her three boys live in San Antonio, Dr. Shelton persuaded her friend to drive down to Beeville to provide services for Beeville's children so that many of them do not need to be referred to Corpus.  Like Dr. Shelton, Dr. Diaz is a general dentist; however, she has taken many extra courses for working with children and has fifteen years of experience working almost exclusively with children.  Plus she has a real gift for working with children.
