Dr. Elizabeth A Small, MD, Ophthalmology Department, Mount Sinai Doctors, is the “gold standard” of professional excellence. Dr. Small performed my two cataract surgeries; both surgeries were a complete success, and the recoveries have gone incredibly smoothly. My initial examin was very thorough, in fact, it was the most comprehensive eye exam I’ve ever experienced. The entire procedure was explained, all my questions were answered and I knew that I was in good hands. Subsequent visits were amazing; the doctor and her staff made me feel comfortable and totally at ease. Dr. Small is an expert surgeon, kind, soft spoken, congenial with a sweet sense of humor. Her entire staff, Toni, Danielle, Debra and Daniella, is a reflection of all her qualities and high standard of exemplary professionalism. I am so grateful to Dr. Elizabeth A Small for the priceless gift of sight and for allowing me to see the world so clearly again.

Dr. Small successfully removed my left eye cataract recently, without any complications whatsoever despite it being fairly large. Her post-surgery follow-up was excellent as well. I highly recommend Dr Small, not just for her knowledge & skill but also for her caring & kindness.

If you care about your eyes don’t go to this doctor! I had an appointment, but developed a horrible eye infection weeks before the appointment. Called several times to get in sooner with no response (but of course each time i called they said someone would get back to me). Went for originally scheduled appt and waited well over two hours. Dr. Small then wanted to schedule me for a 5 minute surgery. I waited and wouldn’t budge until she did it that day. Told her what i was allergic too (just one thing, not a lengthy list) and she gave me eye drops with the main ingredient i was allergic to. So after two weeks i realized it wasn’t recovery from surgery but the eye drops that were making matters so much worse. Total incompetence!!! Will never go back!

I was very impressed with my care and treatment. Dr. Small is very personable and she took the time to answer all my questions and explain everything clearly. She is very knowledgeable and skilled. Her office is very efficient and the staff are all courteous. I was very impressed and have now been a patient for a number of years. I have recommended her to my friends and family, who have also been very pleased.

I would like to thank Dr. Small for all of her excellent care and kindness for our mom during her care for cataract surgery. My mom always felt comfort during her visits. We can say enough for all her compassion during this experience with Dr. Small.

Dr Small neglected to tell me I had Fuchs Dysrophy a corneal disease that requires follow up by a specialist. She was going to perform cataract surgery on me which usually accelerates the progression of the disease. Fortunately, I chose to get a second opinion from a Dr that specializes in Fuchs. I left her practice because I felt she should have referred me to a corneal specialist before attempting surgery.

Yes, you may have to wait a bit to see Dr. Small (no, not 3 hours as the previous psychopath claims) but the reason is that she is a very good doctor. Would you rather go see a doctor that has no wait because he/she has no patients? It is a testament to Dr.Small's popularity.My experiences with Dr. Small and her staff have been very positive. Don't listen to bitter old coot reviewers who live to complain!

Please don't go to dr. Small. Her name should tell you something is wrong. The receptionist is very rude. Wait time was over 3 hours. And she didn't have time to spend with me to explain anything. In and out in five minutes. I can tell she's a neat freak cause she didn't even want to touch my eyes. Stay away!

I had an emergency appointment and Dr. Small was able to fit me in during the mid-afternoon. When I arrived, I was greeted with kindness and respect by the receptionist. I was examined first by a nurse who was also kind and gracious. A few minutes later the doctor came in and greeted me warmly. After asking me a few questions, she examined me and performed some tests. She rendered her diagnosis and answered all of my questions. I feel if I follow her recommendations my problems will disappear. I trust Dr. Small and I highly recommend her.
