Dr. Elizabeth P Steinhaus, MD

At 37 years old, I’m about to lose both breasts to cancer. I found a great plastic surgeon who referred me to Dr. Steinhaus. Such a mistake! After waiting an hour in a room with no shirt on, the doctor came in and made some excuse about looking for my medical records (I had digital copies of them with me as I was told to do). I asked why I was told to bring a digital copy of my records if that was something she could look up (I'd spent a wasted day in the records department waiting for them to give me the copy). She had a terrible attitude from the very beginning and had ZERO concern for my cancer or cancer treatment. She was an hour behind schedule and extremely rude. I could have used a little consideration during my cancer journey. Don't go to Steinhaus if you have cancer. She clearly does not care about patients. She also had a malpractice lawsuit in 2008 for leaving pieces of a latex surgical glove in a woman after surgery instead of PROPER DRAINS.

She was very disappointing and she falsified my medical records. She is not a trustworthy surgeon. I cannot recommend her!

I have been going to Dr. Steinhaus for over 17 years. She is a very intelligent, compassionate and caring physician. She is current in all things associated with breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, testing, etc. She monitors each patient closely when there is family history or there has been a previous biopsy or treatment. She explains everything to you in detail, answers all of your questions and makes herself available if needed. I would recommend Dr. Steinhaus to anyone who needs a Doctor for breast care.

So impressed on my very first visit. Can only say good things about this very special doctor.

Dr. Steinhaus has impeccable talent as a surgeon and is a tremendous communicator. She takes time to explain things to you, answer questions, and listens to your questions/concerns. I would definitely hire her to be on my surgical team again, should the need arise. The office she is in, however, has some shortcomings. They handle A LOT of patients. You'll feel somewhat like you're in a factory. The staff, however, was always courteous, friendly and compassionate. Their downfall, in my case, was communication after you leave the office. If you're not there when they call (like with test results), good luck getting back in touch with someone that can tell you something very quickly. If you call with questions, you rarely get a live person, and they won't get back to you until that evening, at the earliest. It's definitely a situation of the patient having to bend to the doctor's office's needs/schedules, not the customer service approach of the other way around.

It has been a whirlwind experience since my diagnosis in November. I was blessed to have Dr Steinhaus through this trying time. She is caring, extremely thorough, and professional. She put me at ease and offered options for my treatment. I am very confident with her partnership. I was told several times by Radiologist, Nurses at hospital, Cosmetic Surgeon, etc. that I had the bes in Atlanta.

Be prepared for a wait time, but Dr. Steinhaus is well worth waiting for! You will be hard pressed to find a more thoughtful and caring doctor when you are dealing with breast cancer and its aftermath! Love her!
