Dr. Elizabeth Jane Thomas, MD

Dr. Thomas really cares about her patients. She takes time to explain everything and lets you ask questions. She’s overall a great person and doctor. I would recommend anyone to her in a heartbeat.

I had a high blood pressure reading at 36 weeks, and I was incredibly nervous going into the appt, so I told her I thought it was a fluke. She didn’t believe me and told me I needed to get induced at 37 weeks. When I told her I didn’t want to do that, she told me I was disobeying Dr’s orders and she then refused to give me any advice or help further. All the other doctors were pretty chill with me, but wanted me to take stress tests a couple times a week for the next couple weeks. I managed to stave off an induction till I was 39 weeks and 4 days. Then I got there and found out Dr. Thomas was on shift for my delivery. I was so upset. She was fine during delivery, but got one last dig in when she showed me my placenta and said it “looked a little tired,” which my doula confirmed was a snarky remark about how her suggestion for an induction was the right move. She told my friend who had had two miscarriages that she should “be worried about another miscarriage till 28 weeks” -- who… says that?!?!

Took a lot of time educating me and answering my numerous questions. I tend to be very anxious, especially at gynecologist appointments. She made me feel comfortable and explained her findings to me very well. I left with a good understanding of what was going on in my body, and I felt like I could make a good decision on what form of birth control I wanted to be on. She pointed me to some good resources to do my own reading and make a thoroughly educated decision. I felt like I had more of a say in my medical care, and I felt heard and respected.

I first met Dr. Thomas when I was pregnant with my second child when she was doing her Residency. I have been with her ever since. I trust her opinion. She listens. She will tell a nurse to be quiet and give you reassurance when needed. She treats you like a person.
